After I saw this pic I had to go look and see what you did for a Coil. Any specific reason you went HEI? I didn't see any comment about it (but I may have missed it).

Multiple reasons on this truck. This is where the guy that rescued the truck started his hapless attempt to get it running

There was no dissy and no coil.

Second with a desmog City Racer and now JimC carb you need to recurve the dissy.

Lastly, 3 of my 4 Cruisers have Davis Unified Distributors on them. It’s what I know and trust.

I found a NOS relay and now the horn works. Well 1 of 3 buttons works now.
I’ll dissect and clean the other two. I’m assuming it’s the little Phillips head on the back side opposite.

This thing was good for mating the defrost hose to the metal duct. I bought a longer hose for the other side and a new elbow. It was way short.

whatever soft top was on this truck...... I don’t think I’ve ever seen as many holes for snaps and stuff drilled into any truck as on this 40. I went around with my Fluid Film bomber hose and sprayed the cavities and sealed them all up.

Looks like an old besttop. The two holes were for the "Frame" and the holes around the top of the tub were for the snaps on the top. And they rarely fit well. The old school doors also had snaps in the front to keep them sealed.

One of the plans I have had was to clean up the floor real good and Lizard Skin it from below.

I scrubbed and scraped and cleaned and realized no matter what I did under here I would simply be making what rust is under here worse by locking it in between layers of this stuff.

Soooo.......Fluid Film it is. I am happy with this decision.

I got the new controller in for the 8274 and plug. It’s all ready to bolt up now. New Warn rope

As for the Speedway arms.....they are way too short. I have the proper OEM coming but these I wanted to check and see

The Fluid Film spray gun for the bulk gallons really lays on a nice, thin coat. It sat overnight and it really is soaking in nicely already. I wanted to get some pics because this truck will likely never be this clean again under here

Took it for another nice spin around the area after a couple of hours of messing with it this afternoon after work.

Actually I see they are adjustable in the description. I’ll get a better comparison tomorrow.


I am interested in the clip style end because one of my 1967 motors has a stripped shaft.

They extend in length to over 11”, should be long enough but you never know around here

I actually did do it. I kind of think it’s a wasted step though. The Fluid Film soaks in and kills.

The new owner has a guy that does stainless exhaust so it’s staying like this mess for now.
