Forget Idaho, what does he have to do with cruisers such that he has signed the glovebox as if he were Carroll Shelby signing a cobra?

Because it's his FJ so if I was buying it I would want him to sign it. It's part of the FJ's story and the reason it makes this FJ more special than any other random FJ.

But,,,, it's not an fj.

Only 6 sold for what the valuation is at, and 4 of them are ICONs. Pretty sure this is nowhere near as nice as an ICON, the name should bring in some extra money but not like 25k

nice cruiser - I sure hope you have driven it since 2011

oh, and as far as Tom Hanks is concerned, whatever he sells the truck for is peanuts in his budget :meh:

To address the signed glovebox door personally think if Barrett-Jackson was auctioning if off for charity and they were forgoing their fees would expect it to be signed. As it is this is more of I don't need the money but hay if I can get extra money I don't need why not. I have a special FJ40 by that's not because some one famous owned but rather for the the cruiser itself. Personally don't care who previous owners are. To me info on the restore and condition before is more important in determining the value.

As for my 70 it has been driven but not as much as it should. It's always been registered for the road. Oh and my special cruiser is not the 70 it's the one on the right.

OK….It’s final, if Tom Hanks can get an extra $25k for a signed glove box, I’m gonna sign my glovebox…make it worth an extra dollar anyway….I wonder what a signed oil pan, 3rd member, skid plate….maybe a signature inside the valve cover…..is worth….LOL

$1000 maybe…..it’s signed!….(lol)

It would be so much cooler if he was more involved with the cruiser community and decided to do a charity give-away to a dirt bag 40 person. My beloved 73 was rustic green. That's a cool 40, hope it finds a good home and some trail time!

He signed the old Airstream he's been cavorting in for the last 30 years and is selling it as well. You could buy that an an inflated price. Me - I hate other people's body detritus. Only an egomaniac thinks a layer of their skin flakes adds value to their castoffs. Typical Hollywood douche.

I'm hankering to know how the sale goes.
The uneducated FJ40 buyer always bids too high. To a collector, the FJ40 looks like a car that should already be close to 6 figures I’m pretty sure. I was watching a Barrett Jackson YouTube video, and every single FJ40 was waaay over bid for completely no reason whatsoever.

For the "collector" , value depends on whether they are buying or selling. If they think a signature or something else increases its value, then they'll be for it. Auctions tend to set the market value, regardless if it's an informed or uninformed bidder. It just takes 2 people who want it more.

I don’t follow culture, occasionally I make it to a movie every decade. I do know that Hanks is an actor. But I don‘t know what he has to do with Idaho. Can‘t read the date on the license plate sticker, so don’t know how old this pic is or if he just bought the cruiser in Idaho in the past.
Hanks has owned a home in Sun Valley for a long time.

come on you guys... it is Hanks's truck. .. He spended too long time on some island talking to the ball... his wife keep his Jeep.. the FJ40 is only thing he got .. or this is a different story??? :)

He can sale it for parts .... and sign all the parts for extra cash
Personally I don't see any issue with celebrity action..
But what really worries me are the flippers around... ;)

Maybe this could increase the value of my truck

“Hey, you know, Tom hanks had a truck JUST LIKE mine, that oughta be worth an extra 5k”

Hi, I like the fact he enjoys a cruiser just like us. He personalized it just like us. He helps all of us by driving a cruiser and showing it off. Now he is donating the cruiser to a good cause .The Lone Star club members donate parts and equipment every years to charities. Hopefully someone will pay a great price for the cruiser since it’s going to a good cause. Thanks, Mr. Hanks. Mike

I don't understand this. When I bought my 1976 FJ40 in 1978 it was a, well, FJ40.

Even my title says it is an FJ40. The Vin number starts with FJ40.

To me it's an FJ40.
Yes it's an FJ40. Nobody ever called it an "FJ" though until the FJ Cruiser came out (at least I never heard anyone refer to one as an FJ until then). It was either an FJ40 or a "40" (to distinguish it from a 55 or 60).

So how do you know what I called my FJ 25 years ago?
