Before you go through the trouble of a tank cleaning just bypass it and use a can of gas as a source. It’s just a quick test but it can prove out your suspicion about the fuel source.

If anyone any figure sh!t out in the sty it’s you Bob. Take a step back…go back to the basics of air-fuel-fire, think of the simple stuff and you figure it out.

I don't believe you need a douche so skip the vinegar and go straight to the phosphoric acid.

IT'S ALIVE . So got it teaked got 18 psi vac and 670ish on RPMs at temp of 160 °. Shut it down, installed air cleaner. Took it for a short drive ( NO JINX .) Accelerating much better, didnt shut down on me when slowing or turning or hard braking. Believed problem is solved. Just need to figure out choke cable hook up.

Sodium carbonate (soda ash) no different than if he used vinegar.

The points can be out of adjustment and you can still have spark.
All of the times I had issues with them was at higher rpm’s. It would idle fine but, run fine up to 1000 - 1500 rpm, and cut out and miss at higher rpm.

A suggestion.
Since you already have 3 layers of protection, why not buy a handful of fuel filters, identical to the one which is closest to your gas tank and each time one plugs up, put in a new one, until the rusty garbage is all gone from the tank.
It's minutes worth of work vs hours,
Tens of dollars vs hundreds and keeps you able to drive it in the mean time...
