Finally had some time to do a little investigating. Took a few minutes to look at the engine and see if I could get the motor to turn over. Sadly, no luck. I couldn't get the engine rotate. wouldn't even budge at all. I was concerned that there was going to be water or dirt inside the cylinders so I took a long nozzle and attached it to an air hose and stuck it down thru the spark plug holes and blew them out. The good and the bad, nothing came out of five of the cylinders so I am hoping that if any moisture got in there it has been minimal. Unfortunately, the second cylinder from the front sprayed me with some type of oil. I think the guy I bought this from may have been trying to get the engine to turn over also and put something in that cylinder to help break it loose. I'm not sure why only that cylinder had stuff in it. I ended up pouring some Marvel Oil into each cylinder and replaced the spark plugs to help prevent any moisture, dust, etc. from getting into the cylinders. I also, pulled the valve cover off and discovered that one of the push rods was damaged. That may be why Rusty was parked by one of its previous owners.

Need to replace that pushrod 🤔🧐😉. Marvel Mystery oil is great! I would pour it into the spark plugs holes and let sit for 24 hours! Then spin the engine a few before trying to fire. 😉. I did this with my 78 FJ40 after sitting for 6 years and it fired on 1st try 🤔🧐😉

How are you trying to rotate it? I've always used the flywheel and a prybar (gently) of course. Might be time to pull the head and have a look around.
