I wonder what the factory fuel tank size is (I only have one)?

Its officially 90 litres, if you are patient at the bowser you may get 88. Rock the car a little to get any air out. Like with most things on a 75 series, there are aftermarket items. I think there is a straight bolt in tank that takes a 140 litres. There are also others that fit the rear.

Nice Troopy. I have the same power train in my ‘94 FZJ-75 pickup. I can cruise at 85 mph on all but the steepest of inclines. I know what you mean about the seats. Mine is a split bench. I wouldn’t want to drive or ride more than 2 or 3 hours without a break although I think the super stiff suspension plays a part.

First of all....what a cool truck. Thanks for sharing. Wheels look PERFECT...been considering some of these for a project. It's a great look and the price is right on them.

I haven't spent a lot of time driving our 1FZ-F powered Troopy but the first thing I noticed was how insanely smooth it was. Glad to hear that from someone else. Like freakishly smooth....and kind of quick too(relatively speaking of course).

The mirrors are strange on this one...anyone else notice that? Like 3/4 of a regular 70 series mirror.....they look really good.

I tried to buy those $250 rear slider windows from the guy on ebay....could never get a reply from him. In the end, I bought new glass, new seals, etc. and had my trims powdercoated satin black. Turned out to be about the same as buying from him. Maybe you'll be able to find some sliders from someone who's removed theirs to do the hatch inserts. Glass and seals are cheap to restore them.

Can't wait to see more of this one...

They are definitely shorter. Like half as tall.

No front hub lock-outs? I get a bit of a vibration in mine if I leave the front hubs locked going down the freeway. Vibration could be coming from the front.

Is that roof rack aluminum? Are the mounting brackets riveted on? I like the factory steps up the rear corner. Nice find. Surprising that it gets such good mileage, way better than our 80. I must have missed it, how many miles/kms are on it?

Also, there's a factory plug and play wiring upgrade that will get a bit more illumination out of your headlights. Its for 12V vehicles, I tried it on my 24V Troopy, it helped for about a week, then blew the low-beam relay.

It almost looks like they flipped the left and right mirror body but kept the mounting bases where they are.

Edit: they are just eBay knock-offs but look better than OEM, IMHO.

Pretty sure that is what I got when I ordered factory parts 8791090K00 (LH) and 8794090K00 (RH). Excuse a pissed Brittany sitting with plywood over her head 😂:

Actually was hoping to find the taller mirrors, I prefer the greater vis provided.

I stand corrected then. I thought they looked identical to the aftermarket ones I saw on eBay.

Clearview out of AUS makes mirrors. I know a guy with the on his 200. Pretty nice, also power folding and all that jazz. Not cheap.

I checked those out when I first saw them on 4WD Action, I get why they have the brace that goes farther down the door, but they look a little funny to me with that huge lower black piece. Maybe its the contrast on white. But if your towing, that extra view would be super helpful.

I agree, that lower portion looks a tad odd. Doesn't bother me a ton though. Personal preference, I think they don't look any worse than the oem mirror mount.

That's a good point, I forget the Ute boys already have a few extra holes and some goofy braces. Definitely and upgrade HA. I am a fan of the tundra telescoping style tow mirrors, so all things considered I think those clear views are an improvement. Will they go on your troopy?

My Troopy came with the other type of mirror that mounts in the window area so I would have to drill holes to fit the Clearview mirrors. That said, I'm not sure yet. Lots of other stuff to figure out first haha 😁

Sorry I was jumping the gun ha! Anxiously await all the update posts, no matter the accessories chosen!

Nice looking Troopy. Love my BJ70 but its not exactly great for road trips. An FZJ75 is definitely on my list of vehicles to own one day..

They look like the stock mirrors the canadian BJ70s came with.

Haven't posted here in a while, been busy at my main work, was finishing up remodeling a house, moving, and remodeling again, and then got slammed with the quarantine COVID-19 life.

During my maiden trip up to Oregon to Utah and back to California, I had to replace a U-Joint and the E-Brake cable snapped. Not having an E-brake was not great for parking on hills and wanting to warm up the truck at higher colder altitudes, so I ordered one and replaced both while on the road. In the photos below, you can see how the end nub that screws into the brake lever broke.

Installation was super straightforward and logical in typical Toyota fashion. One lesson I learned though was to attach an electrical fishing wire or string to the end of the old E-Brake cable before yanking it out... otherwise it is kind of a pain fishing the new, stiffer, less malleable, E-Brake cable between the gas tank and the body to get it to the small E-Brake opening. To my recollection, I pulled out the old E-Brake cable unsheathed and duct taped it to the new one and fished it to the E-Brake hole.

Once I got back from the trip...
I got rear ended on the highway with a pretty significant speed differential (if I had to guess 20-30mph or so) because the other driver was texting and driving as we approached slower traffic. To make things more complicated and more frustrating, the other driver took off and ran. Thankfully a week or so later, they caught the person and there's a little more accountability that I can hold her to.

Now, for the damage of the 75... Honestly not that much.

You can see the bend of the rear bumper a bit, but it's not too bad. Insurance still is willing to help me replace it though (EXP ONE bumper maybe...?). However, I did notice that there is a whirling sound, and after diagnosing where the sound could be, I feel like it's the front differential. There's some play in the front drive shaft, pinion gear... So I guess it's time to tear apart the front axle (and rebuild brakes while I'm at it).

Other news:
I ordered Planted seat brackets. One thing I noticed on the maiden voyage was how uncomfortable the seats are. It was so uncomfortable at one point that I didn't want to get an AUX gas tank for the truck anymore because I NEEDED to stop every 500KM/tankful in order to be a functioning human. After I get the planted seat brackets, I was thinking about getting Corbeau seats and some flat adjustment sliders to sandwich between the Planted bracket and the seat itself.

The damage doesn’t seem bad at all, good deal.

Very interested to see where you go with seats. I can’t swing the Scheel Mann’s and have been looking at Corbeau or some BMW-like take offs.
