Got our last batch of powder coating back from the powdercoaters last week. At least I hope it's the last batch.

Air box turned out really well....happy with how it came together.

AC line is a little wonky.....I was able to check it against another compressor from a 2017 and sure enough, this changed after 2016. So to run the newer compressor, bracket changes as does this line. Goes from a 90 degree bend to a 45 degree.

We have a good AC shop that can mod this line but if I can find a new one, I'd like to go new OEM and not modded. My whole intent of changing all this AC stuff was to not mod things.

Radiator went in.....for reference, this is what I used. OEM coolant bottle and bracket bolted right up.

And here it is....just about 100% done. Ready to fill with fluids and fire it up. Hopefully soon. Really soon.

Looks fantastic. What black are you using? 60% or so gloss (not an expert on powder coating so that might not be the correct nomenclature).
We do satin black on brackets generally. This seemed a little more gloss than usual but not a huge deal on this stuff. We had texture black, satin black and this trick Black Silk....kind of a silver sheen to what looks like satin black....going on parts last week. Textured black is usually my go-to for bigger parts......in fact there might be a set of wheels getting some tex black on them....

Cleaned out the bed on Friday....kind of became the catch all for lots of stuff from this build...some of it needed, some of it needing to go in boxes and on the shelf for use down the road. Suspension/steering/brakes/knuckles next...getting inventory on all that stuff.

Lots going on in the wiring department on Friday....getting the 76 harness merged into the rear harness of the 79. Kind of a complex deal since some of the 76 won't be used and in the 76 it ran inside partially. 79 runs outside the cab....and it needs the locker part of the harness that was in the 76 transferred in. Not necessarily as complex as what we have done in the past but a huge time consuming affair. 24' of tables and tool boxes certainly helps.

The only thing we couldn't find were 2 connectors that would have allowed the 79 harness to plug into the 76 cab harness....so we'll have to make a new connectors.....we'll use some multi pin Deutsch connectors for this....nice and secure and weatherproof.

Final little things being addressed....had some PIAA horns from something....figured this would be their new home.

Got the PS lines mounted in a clamp....hard to see in the pic. Waiting for our rebuilt box to come back from West Texas Off Road....they found twisted splines on the sector shaft so a 105 shaft had to be ordered. Due in this week and then right to them.

@bottombracket has 4 of those horns on his new 80. Will make you get out of the way quick.

The 4 that came in my new 80 seems a little excessive. I can box up 1 to 3 of them and send your way if you need reinforcements.

All good I think.....pop them on your 79 :)

Troopy is getting some love in-between work on the 79......need to update that thread.

This is our no-prop rod pose....

What steelies are those on the 79?

16x7 Taco/Sequoia/Tundra spares....they came on an 80 series I bought for the next build. The guy I got the truck from said they were "ex Nato wheels"...ha.

Going to buy a set of 17x7 steel spares tomorrow I think.....may end up using them on this truck. We're looking at running 255/80/17s most likely. May have a look at BFGs 33x10.50x17 too. We will be running different wheels but the 17s will give me some idea on sizing for the custom wheels we will run IF I don't keep the steelies. I love those wheels.

I have a little more room to play around on this truck as the Kut Snake flares are about 1" wider than the OEMs on truck #1.

We put the flares on the Troopy over the weekend....really nice coverage. Dobinsons suspension went on last week.

Eyeballing it, I think the 16x8 ProComp steels that came with my 80 might work or be very close with the right tire. Napkin-math, taking into account the offsets, says they'll stick out a little under an inch more than those 16x7s. Interesting.
If not, good to know those Taco/Tundra wheels fit nicely. I'm partial to the steel wheel look anyways.
