Standard fare junky dash components. The speedo on the gauge cluster only reads km. Decent enough looking gauges though.

Pretty standard looking suspension hardware. One set of shackles and pins are from something else.

The euro tail lights and KMH speedo are cool...but I’m not hoarding more parts until I get mine mobile again

Nice to have help!

RUSH55, Don't want to hijack your thread but here are details of my SOA/SR since I can't figure out how to attach in PM. Running the Dana 44 in front gives me 4" wider front so outboarded the shackles and rear chevy is about 2" wider so hopefully not as tippy when I go to 35s. Happy to hear your going SOA on yours and hope you have good knees and strong core as getting in and out of SOA pig can make you wish you were high jumper.

👍👍
Nice job @sahelzer ! Are those the stock hangers turned 180? That is slick!
RUSH55, Yes those were the stock hangers cut from frame, reversed, and then welded outside the frame to manage the wider axel. Not sure if you are planning shackle reversal on yours? So far mine works well, doesn't dive under heavy breaking, and doesn't bump steer like some of the FJ40s I have driven. I hired the work on mine from experienced fabricator in 2001 and if done wrong can be dangerous. I seem to recall Pirate or Mud had good article on shackle reversal I studied before going that route on my pig.

I don't have sway bars, have the long range 50+ gallon fuel tank and will have 35" spare using 4 Plus swing out tire carrier like wngrog did on his pig. Will be heavy sow and bit worried about how that pork butt might effect handling at freeway speed. Have friend with old GMC Jimmy that is SOA and will see how they managed sway bars on that if necessary.

I did a SR waaay back, but it will be removed and a new out-boarded version will take its place to account for the FJ60 axles that will be going in.

Been mulling over the gas tank the last few days. I’d like to build about a 30ish gallon unit that will fit somewhat level with the bottom of the frame and has the capability of accepting an in-tank fuel pump for EFI that is situated directly below the sending unit access panel. If I can get the pieces bent the way I’d like, I’m sure I could build it myself.

Looks like we both fell into the same deep rabbit hole. Nice progress. Tried your idea of wire brush on drill for frame. Did a nice job and a LOT less mess. Thanks for the tip

Wire wheels on a 4” grinder are even better. There are a few types of wheels to choose from. The bell type (braided wire or unbraided) will cover more surface area faster while the straight wheel type will get in to spots better or have a more thorough cleaning effect.
Lots more torque than a drill, so safety up!

Worked on The Rickety Spit all weekend. God I hope this thing works 🙏
I’m a little concerned it might be too short lengthwise at 12’. Gonna find out here pretty soon. Ran out of daylight and proper rigging to lift off with the cherry pickers.
Also put the ends on my new 30’ 220v extension cord. Now I can wheel my welder way out in the driveway 👍💥👍
