Had them on my old rear bumper too. They were only surface welded but were strong enough to hold while the mount bolts tore thru the frame steel while trying to jerk a tree stump out of my yard.

Yeah mate, one of those often forgotten mods that get taken for granted but are truly awesome and worth doing! Those are from 4Plus. Not sure if Dave is still making them, but they are great!

Nothing drastic to report...

Disconnected fuel hose to tank
Disconnected fuel vent lines
Drained fuel tank
Removed tail light and side marker light assemblies

Just need to remove the 8 tub mount bolts and the tub should be ready to come off. Need to remove the tailgate as well.
 
I used my cherry picker from the back after tail gate was off. Used a hi lift under each a pillar . Took about an hour working my way between each lifting point. Rolled chassis out and put it on blocks until I got my rotisserie.
 
Got the tailgate and torsion arm off. Impact driver make pretty quick work of most the screws but had a few casualties with the large flathead Phillips bolts.
I think that’ll pretty much do it until I get the rotisserie built.

I was thinking about picking up a couple of cheap engine stands and chopping them up to build the ends - not sure yet. I’d like to build them so the height can be adjusted, maybe just have pins and change the height with hi-lift jacks or something.
What do you think about building the base out of 4”x4” lumber with 3 casters on the ends and possibly one under the center of the long section, then building all of the diagonal supports and uprights out of square steel tubing?
Been kicking this around for a few weeks. I think it should be strong enough. A 12’ center on top of two 8’ ends with casters.

Any idea what the weight of the tub is?
 
I've seen some without a connecting base. Bolt one engine stand to the tailgate holes and the other up front (can't remember the holes I used, have to look). I believe a 4x4 would be fine to connect the two. Only need it for a little while.
 
We had a rotisserie that was heavier than engine stand but not connecting for spinning Datsun’s and Alfa’s, worked fine...no rollers though.

I think about using actual engine stands like that and they don’t seem tall enough (to spin a tub without it touching the ground) or nearly wide enough (to keep from tipping over while spinning). But I guess some guys have done it?
Mine’s gotta be mobile, the plan is to work on it outside then wheel it into the garage to keep it out of the elements once paint has been stripped off while doing bodywork.
 
Please post some pictures too. I am about to build one of these things and could use all the help I can get!

Absolutely buddy! Thought I might have had a sweet start on it today using my old 2-1/2”x1/4” square tubing sliders as the uprights, but 2” square won’t slide inside. Hopefully get a running start on that maybe next week.
