Here’s something for a laugh. This is the combined Jerry-rig fuel linkage of myself and whatever PO took off the stock carb and setup the Holley 2 barrel that it had when my Dad bought it. This is at least the third incarnation. One more thing to straighten out during this remodation.
At one point, I tried going back to an Aisin carb - had the linkage and everything back to stock and drove it for several months. Come to find out the diaphragm for the secondary had a hole in it, so I had only been running off of one barrel. After unsuccessfully trying to locate a diaphragm, I went ahead and installed the first Rochester, and have been running them ever since.

Pretty inventive...safe to say most of our rigs have a bit of MacGyver in them.

So, I just read thru several pages of @J Mack ‘s build thread. Really nice rig J Mack. With that being said, I’m gonna go ahead and quit Cruisers. Put a For-Sale sign on my dilapidated project.
Thanks guys, it was nice meeting and chatting with you.

Naw, I’m kidding! I could never quit my first love! But between J Mack’s and Scrapdaddy Ron’s and several others who’ve done outstanding builds, it’s comforting to know that no matter what I do, someone has already done it and they did it better:hillbilly:
It’s hard to be a pioneer these days!

That's one of the things I like about the group, everyone has their own take on what a 55 should be. The 55 can look good in many different shoes, from rock crawler to camper to beauty queen. The one thing that binds us together is we all know going in it's going to cost you money, so you might as well have some fun with her! :)

"It’s hard to be a pioneer these days!"

Reminds me of one of my favorite quotes..."The pioneers get the arrows. The settlers get the land."

Okay to be a settler...go for it and take advantage of what's already been tried, tested, kept and/or discarded. Just don't over-engineer these old Pigs. Too many just set in shops year after year with the perfect being the enemy of the good. Yours and mine (absent the pretty lipstick) are good examples of old school builds.

Spent a couple hours welding cracks and unnecessary bolt holes on the inner fenders before taking it and the full set of fenders, cowl, and stone guard to the sand blaster.
So I pull out the parts at the sand blaster shop, and the guy says the sandblasting probably won’t take off the old undercoating. So I tell him to just get what he can, and I’ll take care of the undercoating. His hourly rate is $90 an hour, and says my load of sheet metal will cost upwards of $400 to blast. Inside I’m thinking, “What?! $400??!!”
Outside I say, “Alright.”
Two week wait time. This should put a nice dent in my finances. Gonna have to tell the wife - not looking forward to it.
