Any Kokopelli attendees? Trying to figure out my travel from Southern California.

Well dang… Sent my cancellation email to headquarters.

Was really looking forward to a full-fledged CM, since last year was trails-only, and the year before was cancelled.

Y'all have an absolute blast & I’ll hopefully see y'all next year.

In the spirit of a huge CM fan… I offer you my alter-ego’s (Hillbilly Markuson)…little post-WipeOut Hill trail report frommlast year’s event )))))… heh heh…

Starting to knockout some pre trip maintenance items in prep. Diff fluid and oil change. Adding some Trail Tailor LCA skid plates. Can't believe its only a month away.

If you don't mind a few scraps on the lower corners you should be fine. I did Hells, Whip Out and Fins last year with a stock rear. I have a few scrapes on the lower corners. I don't think I hit it much on Whip Out but I did some on Hells and then I was not paying attention at the very end of Fins and hit the driver rear lower corner. I have a Dissent rear on order, but I don't think it will get here before Cruise Moab.

Were you also running stock suspension? Will be headed to Moab in May to do white rim. was thinking of doing Fins and Things on our last day. Debating taking the 200 or 80 (leaning towards 200) but my bro is there this weekend with his 70 and told me I may want to reconsider taking my 200, ha ha. I've got BP51 lift and arb front, stock rear bumper for now.

You’ll be fine. Expect a few touches on the bottom/edge your rear Tupperware at worst.

Remove your side steps if they are still on. Sliders would be reassuring, but you shouldn’t need them on Fins.

cool thanks. I do have sliders, just haven't made a decision on a rear bumper yet.

I did fins last summer. You'll scrape the bottom of the rear bumper on a couple descents. The spare will actually help protect it a bit - I dragged mine on the one extremely steep drop and thus didn't scratch my rear bumper too badly. If you don't mind scraping the bottom of the rear bumper then you'll likely be fine.

HOTEL needed, anyone??

. If anyone is having trouble finding a reasonable and clean hotel…I’m about to cancel my Bowen Motel reservation in Moab since I’m sadly out this year.

Let me know, and maybe we can get the room transferred to you.

The reservation is Tuesday check-in, Sunday checkout, bjt with 24 hours notice, you could check out sooner if you orefer.

Bowen is not fancy, but its been consistently clean, easy & conveniently located in town.

Anyone know who is leading Koko#2. I'm on the run and haven't seen any emails.

Has anyone run the Hotel Rock loop with a 200 on 33's? If so how did it turn out?

I'm here for Jeep Safari and was told turn out is poor and maybe due to fuel prices.
Also was told more people are camping than previous years with many hotel vacancies.

What is the food vendor situation? I was planning on bringing everything I needed because I hadn't seen anything about food vendors outside of the Friday night dinner. Figured I'd ask before I got too far into thinking about what to pack.

no food venders. Although on Vender night (thur) there tends (not guaranteed) to be food. Lots of great restaurants in town and there is a City Market (Krogers) that is a normal size grocery store you would see in a big city. You can get whatever you forget to pack there

@Romer Ken - what is the general format of vendor night? Is it a walkaround stall/expo type event near the CM HQ?

Inside the Spanish Trail Arena.

it was a walk around event in past years. I am not on the committee so I can only assume something similar

Vendor night at CM is never going to be as vast as typical expo events like overland expo west, etc. But… there have been great vendors in the past, with some years including surprisingly generous swag item donations to both the raffle and to driver freebies.

No promises there, and absolutely no knowledge of this years stuff or lack of…but I’ve been literally blown away by generous folks in some recent years.

Bottom line…
—With or without massive mumber of vendors… or big freenies… its absolutely worth the price of admission and one of the beat organized events of its kind.

The above just all the more reasons why I’m truly sad to have to cancel this year.

So I know @Markuson has done hells gate before. Anyone else planning on tackling it this year? Seems like it tends to get a little tippy at the top for ifs rigs and very spotter dependent.

I'm giving it some thought, but will likely be a gametime decision. I'm doing Hell's on Thursday so it will likely depend on how I'm feeling about potentially ruining the rest of my trip. That said, I really want to. If I remember correctly there is some kind of insurance prohibition against the official trail leaders spotting for that obstacle. If you do it, you are not doing it as part of the official run... or something along those lines.

Good to know on the spotter situation. I’ve always wanted to do it, but same as you, will probably be a game time decision.
