As @Markuson can attest, I'm a big proponent of reducing weight especially up high. I think Hells is doable with an RTT, but it will feel very weird in some spots. I don't have a lot of good pics of those places, but here are a couple that will feel tippy inside the cabin. If you're very experienced and used to the feeling, it's ok, but if you're not, I think pucker factor is the right term!

A couple years ago you also got this guy through the trail. @CT3 I think he had a good time, only regretted his tent 2 or 3 times, haha!

Ya, to echo @mcgaskins …Some specific routes would feel super sketchy with a RTT. One example is the left drop route toward the end of Steel Bender. Both my left tires were in the air at the same time as I teetered on my two passenger tires toward the nasty drop on the right side. I wouldn’t have attempted it with RTT…and if I had, I’m pretty sure it would have been a bad outcome. Most in our large group turned around to avoid it, which I thought was a reasonable choice.

Hells isn’t too bad, but if you choose to do the optional Hell’s Gate obstacle etc.… —People tend to pop a wheelie and tip up and toward driver toward the end where high/heavy weigh could be bad news. The Gate is 100% optional though snd usually tried by a few trucks from the trail group.

Last year a CM driver had a significant wiped out on H’s Gate… But Most popular Moab trails are very doable with an RTT. Brad ( @TRD Burglar & @indycole ) have done tons of moab trails with theirs, but they’ll confirm some stuff feels sketchy.

For me personally, an RTT isn’t a good idea for my driving style in the desert at speed, or in the tippy stuff.

OTOH… if camping, I’m always jealous of the speed of put up/take down for RTT folks.

I'll be there for sure! But taking the 40 this year, won't be in the 200. Look for me in the evenings though, I'll likely be creating all sorts of havoc during vendor night on Thursday so should be easy to find.. also leading Wipeout Hill again on Friday. that's the obstacle you see in the ad in Toyota Trails this issue, with a 200 ;)

I was curious and had to go look it up.

Edit: just realized this roll call was in the 200 subforum. Going to slowly back away now....

Managed to sign up this morning despite the false start on site.

First time at Cruise Moab and offroading in Utah!

Am piloting a 150 series with a 2" lift and 31.6" tires. Think I'll be relegated to choosing some tamer trails come trail selection time.

Dang, missed the sign-up. I shall get out there one of these years.

added to the waitlist.

@TeCKis300 if you want to meet there sometime let me know I’m still considering going this spring just a different week

Very cool. Keep me in mind! Shocked, not shocked how quickly this sold out. Maybe we can get enough for another small crew.

I’ll be right there with you, let me know what you pick! 💪

Looking forward to seeing familiar faces and doing Moab again but first time with CM.

I highly recommend doing Hells one day as well if you haven't been there. I haven't decided yet what I will be doing on Saturday

Dont forget your First Aide kit, Radio, Strap, Fire Extinguisher or you want pass Tech inspection. The hardware store in town does great selling these for people who dont have them. A small First aide kit and Fire Ext is fine

Curious if you have seen a good number of 200's do hells gate?

Last year, although not 200 series, I think we had a few 100's, a few 80's, me, and a SAS's taco run it on the night run. We also had 3 winch outs due to falling into the notch IIRC. It can get nasty for body damage with improper spotting. It isn't bad at all with proper line choice, though. If you feel comfortable, go for it!

I'm pretty sure I am leading / gunning Kane Creek, Possibly Cliffhanger, and gunning for Proffitt's Hells run. Not sure when those trips will be run, but it's ganna be good!

The 40 is a little more complete this year, so hopefully no snow in a bikini top this time with no heater.

Hells Gate last year.
