just picked these up on CL. will be ordering wedge brackets once I can pull measurements and confirm they'll work with these.

Found some 370Z seats locally at a decent price; going to take some measurements and see how they might fit in the next day or so.

I have an 04 WRX I put race seats in, so decided to put those stock seats into my 80 (at least for my driver seat at the moment). They are really supportive and are heated, which I just straight spliced in and works. I used a Corbeau bracket for FJ80 passenger side, originally bolted it in with the provided slider but it was too high for my liking - currently bolted directly to the bracket using L brackets I cut and drilled to size.
It feels great and i'm stoked to try it on long trips - it leans slightly to the right which I'll fix shortly along with putting in the passenger side.
Pic is before I removed slider so its about 2 inches lower

I picked up a set of 2004 volvo xc70 wagon seats and their pigtails from a pick n pull. Power, heated and in great shape. I also picked up the rear seat bolsters and center section for the leather for the console.
The frames are wide, and will require pounding down the front hump to fit, and some mods for the rear. I did a quick mockup on the passenger seat, but wasnt wanting to pound on the floorplan just yet.

With how old and cracked 80 seats are getting (not to mention the plastic gears), I'm a little suprised there arent a brackets readily availible for a few of the more popular seat swaps.

Planted makes a bracket. Which other swaps are you thinking about?

"Planted makes a bracket. Which other swaps are you thinking about? "

Planted's bracket does not work for a 2012 Audi A5 seat. I bought one and the bracket is narrower than the Audi support rails. I suspect this is true for most OEM seats.

I saw earlier in this thread that custom plates had to be fabbed for wrx seats in conjunction with the planted bracket

Interesting. I didn't realize that some seats required a modification to the Planted brackets. Good to know.

The Planted brackets are intended for, and fit most aftermarket seats. That said, they do make a good base to start with and modify if you are installing an OEM seat from a different vehicle. No manufacturer is likely to make an aftermarket bracket to fit an OEM seat into another OEM - way too many options and variables.

Exactly what Bryson said, it's much easier to use an aftermarket seat bracket meant for a more universal application (and is a flat base) to fit another seat as opposed to gutting a stock seat bracket to fab up. I did this with a Corbeau bracket, which is slightly cheaper than Planted and comes with sliders.

You, sir, have just made a seat swap more possible for this guy lacking welding skills.

Planted can make changes to their brackets so long as you supply the measurements and accept they may not be 100%.

I installed front seats out of a 2013 Audi A6 and I'm very happy with them. The movement is fully functional on both seats, but I haven't hooked up the heating and ventilation yet. You can see the discussion thread here.

Looking at a set of these - fronts and rears - from an A5 and an A7 👍

I installed some Audi rear seats, from a Q5, into my LX450, to match the Audi front seats that I had installed previously. They offer much more adjustment than the stock seats, and a shoulder harness for the middle seat. The discussion thread, with a link to the build process, can be found here

Good to know about the rear seats. I'll make sure before I buy them with the fronts.
