Hey everyone,

Coming up against some issues on a 1hdt build im doing atm. For context I bought a complete 1992 1hdt gxl with the intention of rebuilding the motor and swapping it into my 1994 1hz gxl. Engine and box is in from the 92 model (h151a box from 1hdt coming too), but realising that the dash and engine wiring harnesses from both cars are different, which was expected. What wasn't expected was that the body harnesses are also very different and im trying to figure out the best way to connect the 1hdt engine and dash harness to the 94 body harness. Ive been to my local toyota dealership and they have the 1992 EWD and the closest I could find to 1994 was the 1995 EWD. Having a hard time in the resources section finding anything on 1994 1hz EWD (found the 1fz and 92 1hdt easy enough). Hoping someone knows where I could find the 1994 1hz EWD if there is one because some of the plugs are going to have to be changed to match the body harness of the 1994. Have been recommended to swap the body harness of both cars, since then all the looms are the same but also running into troubles with the plugs for the 1994 electrical components such as the headlights and rear taillights not being the same plug if we were to swap the body harness.

In a bit of a bind trying to finish off this swap, any and all help is greatly appreciated

From 1hz to 1hdt everything i can think of should be the same electronically, except for the turbo boost sensor, (not required to move over) maybe the reverse switch on trans could have a different plug too? i guess it's possible that one truck has the time delay glow system and the other has super glow but that doesn't matter much either you can just use what ever system is in the 94, if one of the sensors are different just reuse what's on the 94 engine. I'm sure that the dash and engine bay harnesses are quite a bit different between the 2 years. do you have any specific components and plugs that your having trouble with?

Thanks for chiming in,

Not sure yet as far as which plugs are the problems. Both looms side by side are noticeably different in places but the plan is now that the motor and box is in and interior/dash is stripped to put the looms in and start seeing where our problems lie.

Fingers crossed

How did you go mate, I’m trying to do the exact same thing but my 1hdt is a 1991 and I thought the engine and dash loom from the 1hdt was going to be plug and play with the rest of the 1994 body but clearly not. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
