I've heard, back in the day, that the gears on the Delco dizzy didn't quite match up with the gear on the camshaft and could lead to failure, so you had to swap that gear to a Toyota gear. Maybe something to look at.I do have a Delco- Remy dizzy and I'll need to look if it backed out but I dont think that's the case. Aside from better oil delivery and power steering bolt holes on the later 2f's what other benefits are there? I guess parts are a bit easier to come by too.
Solid suggestion on the f motor as a interim solution.I've heard, back in the day, that the gears on the Delco dizzy didn't quite match up with the gear on the camshaft and could lead to failure, so you had to swap that gear to a Toyota gear. Maybe something to look at.
One thing about a 2F block is slightly more displacement, some bigger fasteners, like manifold studs and motor mounts.
If you can get a running F engine, you can swap that in in a weekend. Have a running Pig while you plan your next move...
I remember that on my 40, I decided to go all GM as in 327.I've heard, back in the day, that the gears on the Delco dizzy didn't quite match up with the gear on the camshaft and could lead to failure, so you had to swap that gear to a Toyota gear. Maybe something to look at.

Hey Rush! I fould a motor here in the Bay(Davis) just gotta go pick it up. Has a cherry picker to lend me too. Then potentially rebuild mine. Also, I am on th hunt for 3.70 diff now too. Gonna start with the rear since I dont go off road.... yetTwo weeks later….
What’s the scoop?
What's wrong with your old one? 4.10 gears, correct.I am on th hunt for 3.70 diff now too.
Yep. I just want something a lil more compliant for freeway driving and ive heard these help...What's wrong with your old one? 4.10 gears, correct.
Try not to get stuck in a doom loop - I know I do.As far as a v8 goes, that's what I can afford RN. Tryna wrap my head around pulling the motor isn't a good feeling.
