As far as a v8 goes, that's what I can afford RN. Tryna wrap my head around pulling the motor isn't a good feeling.Good Stouf drink it every day![]()
Piece of pie.As far as a v8 goes, that's what I can afford RN. Tryna wrap my head around pulling the motor isn't a good feeling.
True, I could get it done. Wondering how far I will need to take this. Based on the findings, am I looking at taking the rest of the engine apart including the top end?Piece of pie.
You have lots of friends up there that would be happy to help!
That much metal I’d be looking at everything…True, I could get it done. Wondering how far I will need to take this. Based on the findings, am I looking at taking the rest of the engine apart including the top end?
Hoping to stick to the bottom only but guessing I may have to investigate once I get it out to determine the scope.
Not the ans. I was hoping for but I get it.That much metal I’d be looking at everything…![]()

I dont really have a garage to do this type of project but, I may consider it but not as a first choice. Sounds like I might have a few other choices brewing...Machine shop in the area?
Well then! Commence!Yes, Already spoke with them briefly. They do this type of work regularly.
yeah, not sure a rebuild would make sense. But yes, I am a bit surprised on how much metal there is in the pan, I'll try a magnet later today. You're in a tough spot, my condolences. It's hard to tell why it happened until you find exactly what has happened. I have never heard of an oilpump failing, much more common to have a dizzy shaft back out. Maybe dump that shrapnel out of your oilpan, is it magnetic? Clean it up and try to figure out what it was. It looks a little much to be just a rod bearing.
It's been 21 years since I built my engine, parts were a lot easier to find back then. I did just do a valve job last year, OEM valves were very to find if not NLA. I'm not sure I would even try to rebuild an F engine even if I could find new oversize pistons and rings and stuff, I would put my money in to a Late F or 2F just to get the improved oiling system, they pretty much bolt right in and last forever so far. Used to be that everyone knew someone who had an old 2F sitting around. Maybe not so much anymore but that's what I would be looking for.
