Quick teaser update - I have found someone willing to do the work at my garage, started recently and so far its going great. He's working quickly but doing great work. All fabrication is DONE! FINALLY! He has started doing the filler work prepping for paint. I will be visiting Phoenix on Friday to check on it and will try to start posting some photos next week. Some major hurdles now finally in the rearview. All the door hardware is there and working (thank you Gene @Land Cruiser Junky & Dan @crawlin cruiser !), I've seen the doors close and its a thing of beauty. If all goes well this project might actually finish this year! Feeling optimistic and grateful... stay tuned!

Glad to hear it! You have been steady and patient!

Great visit today checking out the progress in the heat here in Phoenix 🥵 don’t miss the summers! Starting to finally let myself get excited about this project again! I was geeking over it and chatting about it so much today I kinda forgot to take more photos to post, these are from a couple weeks ago. Doors are pretty straight now, close solid and spaced well. All lines on the sides line up. Prepping for paint now. All metal is solid. The rear floor isn’t going to be as perfect as I would have liked but decided being solid metal is good enough and it’s time to get this thing back together within a reasonable budget. Feel very blessed to finally have some momentum back. I’ll start to post more pictures as it gets through primer and hopefully onto paint in a couple months. I believe I also finally can confirm I have all the parts I need (hopefully!) to finish her! If I get moving early enough tomorrow I might swing back by and get some more current photos snapped.

More body progress. It’s crazy to see how far it’s come, sometimes have to remind myself just how beat up this truck was. Every inch it seems has needed to be addressed. Some before and after photos of the drivers side cowl

Amazing resto work. Can’t imagine what caused original damage.

It seriously looked like kids used it for rock throwing games… every inch was beat up, and many of the body panels had been welded onto the frame. It’s come a long way! Still a ways to go but should be ready for paint fairly soon… need to find a good and reasonably priced paint shop in Phoenix if anyone has any leads…

That there is an oxymoron. "Good" and "reasonably priced" do not coexist today.

Nathan, not sure if this will help (and you may already have it), but here are scans of an FJ21 FJ24 FJ28 sales brochure that provides a few specs, which you'll have to translate.

If someone wants to add it to other literature threads, be my guest.

Keep at the project. You've got this entire community behind you.

Nathan, I will be driving out from TN to CA in the spring. I'll let you know the dates and make plans to stop by and visit and finally see Lara myself. If you still want them, I can measure for some cargo jail bars then and fab some to send your way. I've been checking out the progress pics as they come to the album you've shared in my phone. I'm so glad you found someone that is doing great work and staying on it. This 28 is going to be a rolling time capsule of unobtainium. I can't wait to see it finished.

Sounds like a plan Gene! Thanks for all the encouragement I’ve certainly needed it with this build. Taking a little holiday pause for now but expecting the body to be finishing up relatively soon.
