The original plan was just a solo gravel ride in N. Georgia. Until the Bear Creek singletrack called. No one else was out there surprisingly.
Man, I almost never use the Tacoma anymore. This LX is just too comfy for bike trips.
Have a very nice original non-reman'd, original Denso alternator for '75-'76 Fj40/55. Works on other 40s with 2F, just need to swap to the correct the plug is all. Ready to roll.
$90 + shipping
probably a check valve to keep fluid close to the nozzle. Without a check valve, you’d have to run the pump for a while before any fluid came out as it would just be working to fill the lines again. There’s an identical one for the rear window...
Parked next to a fancy decked out Tacoma yesterday. Got a thumbs up from the owner. Five mins later a 100 series (Lexus) pulled up next to me and gave me another.
She must've been proud of herself because this morning she rolled up 285000 kms...
Radiator replacement day for the 77.
Aluminum jobby formed a small lower seam leak and not trusting that BS on the fresh rebuild.
16400-17080 @ my local dealership showed up in two days undamaged and came with all the stuffs. Shiny! Already...
The final thing was to replace the defrost knob. We had a generic one that was not OEM. It stuck out too far and the 4-speed shift lever would hit it when shifting into first and third gear. I found in the 3D depository where @EmanC posted a...
Another option for those wanting to delete the speedo gear for GPS. :)
Designed for splitcase but should work on single-piece as well.

Hump day. Placed 4 M6 rivnuts for new 4-speed boot and retainer plate. 4-speed instruction plaque mounted on pocket door. Next up is replacing the defrost knob with one that our son 3D printed for us.
TPS can definitely get out of whack .
I had some erratic rpms on my FJ62 when my coolant EFI sensor started to die. Computer didn't know what temp the engine was at anymore.
If it's not the TPS or any of the sensors (from checking with the...
By choking the engine that means you have to reduce the amount of air going in to balance the air fuel ratio, therefore you have an under-fueling issue or large vacuum leak.
Hook a vacuum gauge up and see what it says, make sure needle is solid...
I put on a new pad about 3 years ago and its already showing signs of cracking which is bummer. It's not like we are getting baked in sun and heat in Seattle a lot of the time. :p
Speedometer is now working. Replaced the old gear with a new OEM replacement PN 33403-69016. We will see if it lasts. If not, the back-up plan would be to switch over to GPS since the Dakota Digital is already set up for that. I have ordered...
I’m aware of this and believed you about the status, what I wrote was more in sadness then arguing. That switch is one of my favorite 40 parts, I love the metallic feel of them. Good thing the one I bought was for inventory, off to the Matt hoard...
Little steps. I’ve procured most all of my parts necessary for this project already. But, as is shop life, I’ve “lent” out parts in the preceding 2 years or so to shop projects to assist in getting customer projects completed/out the door…...
I was converting Petrol FJ40 gearbox into Diesel BJ40/42version. On top of the input shaft there is a front bearing retainer problem.
I think it is interesting to see the visual differences between FJ/BJ versions. To the “knowledge” library
And last and final full disclosure here’s what my glass (replacement) is. Don’t have its specific dimensions as it was there when I got the rig. It has some slight hazing (between laminates) at the bottom so its been there a while.
Good luck...
Decided to bump this thread rather than start new.
It seems that there is a Pakistani outfit reproducing these now and selling on Ebay @ $800 ea with internal parts. Any early adopters?
