California - 1985 FJ60, H55, Vortec V8, ARB, Recaro
1985 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ60 Vehicle miles: 280,XXX Engine: GM Vortec 5.7 Transmission: Toyota H55 5-speed Vehicle History: I purchased this FJ60 about a year and a half ago w/the intention to use it for extended trips. Since then I’ve realized that as much as I love it, I need a modern version of the same thing. It is perfect for trips to the local trailhead, kayak launch and the school run. It’s not quite ready for a week + deep in the Sierra. Instead of spending another year getting this thing dialed I thought I’d see if there was anyone interested. In 1999 at 177,000 miles, the original engine and 4-speed transmission were replaced w/a high performance 2F engine and a Toyota H55 5-speed transmission – both w purchased from...
Portland OR: 1987/FJ60
Well I'm finally gonna part ways with my bone stock 60. This rig was my DD for 9 years until about 2 years ago when I moved a significant distance away from my office. Gas prices and the pain of putting massive amounts of miles on it over the first 3 months led me to buy a commuter car. The 60 is one of 3 "vintage" LC's I have and the newest of the bunch. I just don't drive it. It needs to go to a good home and be used. I maintain all of my vintage LC's and always utilize OEM parts. There have been no "upgrades" done to this 60 just regular maintenance. This rig has spent it's entire life in the Pacific North West. It has 2 rust spots on the drip rail on either side from a roof rack a previous owner had installed. It also has...
1982 FJ60
$9,000 I have a 1981 FJ60 (White), SOA, original Engine, original Carb, original Tranny. Very few modifications have been done. I have a custom front bumper and I have not made the rear bumper yet. I have a set of sliders for the truck, they were cut off to build new ones, but they can be welded back on. I have a "working" snorkel and there is a custom made roof rack and mounting feet that comes with it. It's has "third row" seating in the form of two FJ60 front seats mounted in reverse, allowing the rig to carry 7 persons in seat belts. I have a few extra parts for the LC, I'll try to list them tomorrow, but I believe there is an extra air box, extra starter, extra fuel pump, extra water pump, and some various other FJ60 / FJ40...
San Francisco - 1990 FJ62 - Poptop Camper
I have a 1990 FJ62, 216k miles. This Land Cruiser has a custom poptop roof for overlanding. The roof has a metal frame base that was welded to the body. The top is a welded aluminum frame with a Nidacore top attached. The tent was made by The Canvas Works in Sausalito. They also made the sleeping padding with high quality foam and sunbrella fabric. I recently installed a 3" Heavy OME lift from Cruiser Outfitters and rolls on 31" BFGs. It has a set of Corbeau Seats with heat (needs to be wired) and lumbar support. They are mounted on Corbeau FJ62 mounts. Dynamat in the rear floor and in all four doors. It has a wagongear tailgate lid. I had the windows tinted last month with 5%, I did not do the fronts because the passenger side does not...
oops! Originally posted this on the For Sale forum by mistake, thank for all of the previous replies and for not calling me an idiot! Looking for a rust free or minimal issues weekend driver preferably close to the northeast US (live in NJ) but willing to travel for the right rig. No projects please, just sold an '85 Chevy van project and promised the wife I would get something that doesn't need a ton of work that she could drive also. Budget is under $20k. Thanks for looking!
1983 FJ60 Arlington, VA $10,500
After careful consideration I've decided to part with my 60. I'm not a Cruiser guy so I don't know too much about this truck but I kind of always wanted one so when presented with the opportunity to buy a rust free example I jumped on it without considering if I'd actually have time to get it up to snuff and on the road. This is defiantly a project but with no real rust issues you only really need to focus on mechanical and paint. Once it arrived I replaced the oil in the engine, diffs, tcase, and trans, replaced the plugs, and clutch master (it bleed out during transport). I've driven it around the neighborhood a few times but otherwise its been sitting in my driveway since November. What I know that it needs Paint is ugly...
In the market for a 60 or 62 that will be mainly used as a daily driver, for me and the wife (local design business) but will be used for occasional beach/mtn weekend camping trip as well. Looking for most of the obvious things like no/limited rust. Would prefer automatic but open to manual. I’m in Charlotte, NC, doesn’t have to be local for the right rig and would like to be in the $15-$20k range. Thx
CO:1988 FJ62 Gray, 202k miles Price Reduced
Hello Mud, I am selling my 1988 FJ62 with 202,000 miles on it. Bought it in 2009 and never planned on selling it. Drove away from our wedding and brought two babies home from the hospital in this truck. But life (and more kid friendly FZJ80, Sequoia, and Tundra) happens. This truck runs and drives well. See below for pros/cons as I want to be transparent about the bad things i know about. Fly in, go camping and wheeling, and drive home. I wouldn't be worried about driving this across the country. Asking $7,500 obo. It has had the following done. -Replaced the radiator in 2009 -Replaced the water pump in 2012 -Added transmission cooler -Installed OME lift in 2011 -Replaced plugs and wires in 2011 -Installed a used ARB bull bar...
Bellaire OH selling FJ 62
Selling 88 FJ62 auto gas. It needs rear spring bushings and shackles, has 275k miles. The tank was taken out to replace the fuel pump and the person broke the supply line on the sending unit so it’s not currently running the tank is in the back. It has rust on rear quarters but could be saved, drivers fender and hood had a ding, drivers window is broke. Some of the interior panels are off but everything should be here in the back seat. I bought it for the axels but just don’t want to fool with it. Make me a good offer and come get it !
[Portland, OR] 1989 HJ61, Cut & Turn SOA, Cable Lockers, Upgraded Turbo, FMIC, etc
This HJ61 came from the factory with a Toyota 12HT 6-cylinder turbo diesel, a 5spd manual transmission, factory cable lockers and full float rear axle. It has a sunroof (that has been shimmed shut and siliconed on top since before I purchased it), split rear seats that fold forward. It has 410,xxx Kilometers on the dial, which translates to about 255,000 miles. Still young as far as LandCruisers go. It's a 24v vehicle with two batteries and I've installed a 24v to 12v Converter & Battery Equalizer to run accessories such as the stereo as well as keep the load between both the high and low batteries balanced. Currently it sits on 35" BFG A/T KO2's, but really wants to be put on 37's. A/C blows cold and has been converted to R134a. I...
Charlotte/Belmont Warning Seller Falsely Advertising
Friends, please be wary of the seller of a 1990 FJ62. He is located in Belmont, NC, just outside of Charlotte. He had a Craigslist ad (since removed) advertising his cruiser. My brother in law (BIL) checkout out the vehicle yesterday and had a handshake agreement to purchase the truck by the afternoon. Seller was asking $15,000 but agreed to $13,000 for my BIL. I was beginning a message to mud to get y'all's opinion on price/condition etc. of the truck before I planned to help BIL complete the purchase today (Sunday). While discussing the truck last night, my BIL and I discovered through Carfax that the cruiser was in a major accident in 2013 and was declared a total loss. Not surprising that any accident to a vehicle of this...

All stock $4300 cash firm. fellow mudders thought I’d post my baby here. I was gonna get her running. I bought her locally 1 year ago with the intention of getting her running again. Just don’t have any time right now. Could be just a simple fix. All stock asking $4300 cash firm Clean title 1983 Land Cruiser not running maybe because of the carburetor needs to be rebuilt is currently on non-op on non op since 2006. I checked the registration cost and it’s like 365 dollars. I try to get it started and it started as long as you put gas on the carb. Engine turns over fine. OK, I've gotten the bug... LCs have been in my wife's family for years, and they've owned at least one of every iteration from the 60 all the way up to 200s. Coincidentally, right around the time I sold my Tacoma I happened to drive my father in law's 1985 FJ60, and needless to say, now I'm looking for one of my own. I know I'm a bit late to the game in buying one of these, but hoping there's still something that fits my needs and budget left out there. I've got ~10K to spend and am hoping to find something that's drivable but without any significant rust. The big picture for this truck will be for around-town driving as I fix it up and make it reliable... Possibly going as far as a frame-off restoration. I can fix any mechanical...
IH8MUD Community, Recently I have started searching for an FJ60. I am in need of a second vehicle and am about to start a complete rebuild of my FJ40. Have always wanted a 60 as well and now have the need. minimal body rust and a drivetrain in good condition. Unfortunately my 40 has significant rust and a transmission leak so I am looking for something that only needs maintenance. I can only afford ~$15-$20K. PM me if you have a 60 sitting around that you are looking to unload.
