Here’s a 78, stars restored. Not mine, no affiliation. Not sure if anyone here owns it. What do you guys think? Pics are kind of blurry but looks clean. I’m not in the market (currently...) but always curious what they go for all ends of the spectrum.

Frame off restoration 1978 FJ40, 6 cylinder 2F264900. In excellent condition and drives nice! There is absolutely no rust, bondo or issuses. It's all mostly original minus the radiator and seats. Paint Color: Tan; Seats: Black, 4WD, Weather Tech Mats, & Floor Covering. Fun Vehicle to DRIVE!!

My 76' FJ40 is ending tomorrow on ebay, it just hit reserve so the highest bid wins in! Last owner has it since 1978, the paint was done in 1990 and parked in 1996.
Runs, drives and stops OK but some attention to the brake booster might help. Over 140 photos in the listing if you wanted to see every angle, ZERO rust.

I am the 3rd owner, the original owner had it for 35 years, then sold it to a dealer who held it in his collection. It has the original interior except for the front seats, radio (I installed a BT radio) and center counsel (I have the original one). 1974 Fj40. 75% restored. It came from the state of California. No rust, you can still read the vin number stamp clearly on the frame. All suspension redone, axles fully rebuilt, engine completely rebuilt valve cover to oil pan, new clutch, trans and Tcase we’re gone over at shop. I have a lot of extra parts. It’s a great project with all hard work done. $6500

Background
motor-
Original 2f motor. Odometer reads 20k; actual mileage unknown. The previous owner claimed it had been rebuilt but unfortunately had no documentation. I replaced the oil pan gasket and the rear main seal when I had the transmission out to replace the clutch. I’ve also replaced the valve cover gasket. It runs great so I’ve never had a reason to do anything else to it.
carburetor- Original carb I had rebuilt by Mark Algazy (marksoffroad.net) shortly after I purchased it.
-desmogged shortly after I purchased it. I kept all the smog equipment though, including the original exhaust manifold and smog pump. It now has a tri-y header...

I have a 1968 FJ40 that has all original drivetrain. Was involved in accident, but doesn't need much. Has a rebuilt motor that was only 6 months old when parked. Went into ditch front first and over onto its top. Windshied frame was replaced with later model. You can see where rollbar mount took some damage. The transmission was removed and new clutch ordered for it and never installed. Needs very little to get back on the road. $3500firm, have clear title and located in Monte Vista, CO

Good fun daily driver. Runs perfect, needs nothing mechanically. Heater works. Has some Toyota buckets out of some car. Other than that and wheels its pretty much all original. Has good working Warn 6000lb winch. Nothing special, just clean original driver. Not perfect, but a lot better than some of seen. $8500

1961 FJ40 Landcruiser swapped with a Chevy 327 with a Toyota 3 speed transmission and matching transfer case. I bought this as a driving project but I never have time to mess it. It is in good mechanical condition with a recent tune up, rebuilt carburetor, all fresh fluids, and new stainless mufflers. It's not restored or perfect but, it's in good shape for a 60 year old Toyota. The body was coated with bedliner by the previous owner and has a couple of rough spot. I haven't found any rust through/rot. It also needs some electrical work before I'd call it a daily driver...

Our twin boys will be driving next summer and we’re thinking of getting them an FJ40 vs another Toyota, as we want one too - perfect solution right?! Thinking great for them to learn about mechanics and fixing/restoring things themselves-life long skills. One kid is taking high school auto as an elective as well. And it’s slow enough that they’re less likely get speeding tickets. Are roll overs an issue?
It’ll have to be dependable daily driver as they’ll drive it to school every day...and we’ll drive it too. Is this possible for low $teens?
Thinking getting a newer 40 as it’ll have PS and front discs...will need AC as we’re in burning hot Texas.
So, would love to know what do you all think?
