Got the axle from the other 60 torn down. Plan is to install this one and put the Detroit locker I removed from my 40 into the other diff for the off road 60. Will try to hammer the base plates for the drums back into shape but maybe it’s time for a disc conversion.

Add the sway bar from a 62. Those tabs allow it.

Found a few chunks that didn’t make it out of the drain hole. Confirmed…the noise was coming from the rear end. You can see the pinion gear that got the lightweight treatment in the second pic.

Got the axle in and also swapped out the swing out bumper for an oem one, one step closer to mall-spec.

Full diaper spare installed. Had to chop off the rear section of the exhaust so I’ll need to redo that to clear the tire.

I harvested the bumper mounts from the donor 60 since mine were missing.

Got some garage door weatherstripping to replace the rear sill part that didn’t make the cut during the rebuild

Only had to recharge them 6 times to tighten down those sheet metal screws . Thanks for the kind words.

Was pulling out the shifter to do a clutch replacement/t case rebuild on an 60 and came up with this solution for getting the sleeve in and out. Reinstalling was a breeze
