For sale: 7/1984 FJ40 LX. I have owned her for 12 years. I bought her in Australia and we brought her to America with us when we moved here in 2013. In Australia she was my daily driver, but here she has always been a second car. She always lived in South Australia, which is a very dry part of Australia and has always been garaged. When we moved to the US we moved to New Mexico, where she has also always been garaged. We moved to Florida two weeks ago, and that is where she is now: not long enough to have suffered any ill effects from the relentless humidity. She has 97,000 miles and looks stunning.

The good:
Very minimal rust. A very small amount just starting at the rear sill.
Air conditioning with brand new Toyota compressor (though it still needs to be charged. . I prefer taking the roof and doors off when it's warm so air con has never been a priority )
Power steering with synthetic ATF
Five speed
Three wipers with factory intermittent function
Full LX interior with no tears
Tachometer
Front quarter Windows, rear sliding Windows
Roll bar
Tinted glass
All new door weather stripping
CD player
Inclinometer
Digital clock
Warn 8274-50
OME springs with 33x10.50x15 BF Goodrich ATs
K&N air filter
Snorkel
All LED lights with Hella H4 headlamps
Fully rebuilt brakes with new disks, calipers and slave cylinders
Fully rebuilt axles with all new Toyota bearings on front and rear HJ61 axles with factory Toyota cable lockers
All new tie rod ends. This truck drives and tracks like a new car
New clutch master and slave cylinders
Leather wrapped steering wheel
New front window felt
Factory carb fully rebuilt by Jim Chenoweth
Runs great on either petrol/gasoline or gas/LPG
Transmission and transfer case shift perfectly and do not leak. Filled with synthetic 75w90
Absolutely stunning aluminium roof rack by awl-TEQ
Receiver hitch and trailer wiring
Fully rebuilt rear drive shaft
Heated driver's seat
Brand new GM HEI distributor
Brand new stainless battery tray

The not-so good:

-The cable lockers work great but I have not yet hooked them up to the interior handles
-The engine leaks a bit of oil from the rear main seal and uses a minimal amount but runs really well
-Everything works on this car except for the windscreen squirter. The tank holds fluid, but the pump has packed it in.
-the factory floor mat on the drivers'side has a small hole in it where my heel has worn through it
-the seat belt on the drivers' side is beginning to fray

I am asking $25,500 for her. She drives like a new car and will not disappoint. I built her to keep her and have a tremendous amount of memories in her. I have owned many, many Cruisers and she is by far my favourite. Unfortunately, family circumstances are such that I must sell her and this is to your advantage. I did not import her to sell her nor did I build her on the cheap to sell her. This was my Cruiser to keep for life and hand down to my son. Sadly, he and I will have to build another one day. She is located in Vero Beach, Florida and can be driven by appointment. I strongly encourage you to have her checked out, but I am confident any mechanic will be impressed (not withstanding the above-mentioned oil leaks). This is the last and the very best Land Cruiser Toyota ever built.

The best way to get hold of me is to email me

I can't believe this isn't sold yet!

Good luck with the sale! I had no idea you were in Vero Beach... my sister and brother in law just opened a brewery there- Walking Tree Brewery. Swing on in there if you ever have a chance!

We go to walking tree all the time. Great stout. Average IPA. We just went to their booth at the beer and wings festival. I've met your brother in law and nephew. Tell him to look out for my cruiser. I'm there at least two or three times per month.

I thought I would be able to keep her so i have not been advertising her. However, work slowed right down right after we transferred down and I have that balloon payment due in april back in australia. Such is life.

She's on Hemmings online and will be in the may print edition. If anyone knows anyone who may be interested, please let them know.

Thanks all

I never realised there were so many non -cruiser people looking for cruisers. One of the emails asked my why my cruiser didn't have the factory 22R and whether I still had it. Another asked me whether I had already gotten it appraised for insurance and if I had would I be willing to provide a copy to a fund manager.

It's a funny old world.

Good luck Josh. great rig. Glad you're back in this hemisphere!

She came out in the print Hemmings this week. We'll see how she goes. May wind up keeping her as there are loads of people interested but no-one taking the time to come see her.

May be just as well as I really dread the idea of selling her. She is the best Cruiser I've ever owned. This is saying something too as I've had some of the most desirable Cruiser models out there.

That's my inclination but I really don't want to pry into retirement savings just to finalise a balloon payment back in Australia. First world problem to be certain but such is the modern world.

It's crazy. Low ballers. Almost no real interest. Crickets. Are people really that spooked by rhd?! Who knew that Americans were that inflexible.

There are plenty of LHD FJxx's available. Maybe I'm one of those inflexible people but I would not buy a RHD vehicle no matter how low the price was. It's just personal preference.
