8.8 mpg with a full-size trailer like you have is not bad at all! I've found staying <65 mph helps a ton with my low-profile trailer.
Here in CA, ANYTHING with 3+ axels is a 55 mph top speed limit. But, I think I hit 60-68 MPG two or three times on the drive home 🫢🤫. We went a different route home so we could do the highway downhill, coasting picking up speed haha.

Well, no GX updates - been working on trailer mods since we got back home from camping.
Got the idea of making cubbies for the trailer for clothes storage so we dont need to live out of a suitcase.
Was originally looking at some Ikea options, then went with something off Amazon. The zon ones were cheaper and lighter weight.

I ended up building a platform for the cubbies to sit on. I didnt want to have to reach down into the bottom row when our mattress/bedding is on.

I figured that could also be used as a great amount of storage, so i build a drawer into it. The issue I was going to run into was the frame of the trailer entry door sticks off the wall and the drawer would hit it - especially the drawer face. Well made a solution for that lol.. put some 3" drawer slides on the drawer face. So now I can pull the drawer out and once it comes to the frame of the entry door, I can slide the face of the drawer away from the door frame. Quick video of it here:
Drawer slides

Ive got some paneling that was originally where the storage box lives leftover. Im going to rip it down to size on the table saw and put it over the side of the cubbies so it hides the screw/peg holes.

Well a side quest for working on cars.

The small red box will get moved out once I fully empty it. That is the fist box I ever bought, off Craigslist about 18 years ago for $60 lol. I moved the fridge over because you couldnt fully open it when the wifes car is parked (hence the pool noodles taped to the door).

Most of my tools are spread out over 3 boxes the same size as the red. Ive got a grey one I got for free from a buddy about 8 years ago that is directly behind me in the pic. A 3rd box that was my gramps out in the shed.

This was five in a half old drawers into a single new one lol

Going to be very nice while working on cars to not have to run around to different spots to get something.
