I have decided to sell my 71 fj40 to work on other projects. There is only so much time and money.
The fj runs and drives. I have done the following:
Rebuilt the brake master cylinder
Rebuilt two of the wheel cylinders and replaced two.
Rebuilt the slave cylinder
Put a new radiator and related hoses in
Put on a new water pump
Put on a new Weber carb
Installed a couple of new turn signal lights
Removed, cleaned and painted the gas tank
Put new heater hose on, not currently hooked up
Rebuilt the ebrake and got that working
Put a new rear hatch handle on
The car runs and drives. It has a leaking wheel cylinder and the steering gear box just started leaking while it was sitting
I have replaced all the fluids. It has solid body panels...

This is a 3 speed original in-line 6 FJ40. I have owned for a few years. It is in good shape but certainly not showroom quality. Mileage is unknown. Runs great and body is solid. Sooner or later I will figure out that I just need to buy a completed truck. I just don’t go for these projects and don't have money I want to spend on someone doing it for me. I was planning on making one diesel 40 out of these 2 trucks and then selling the extra stuff.
I bought these from YoYoHo a couple years back and they have just sat in storage since. Besides an oil change on each nothing has been done. The mechanic I use confirmed the 2B has recent work and the engine is strong. Axles and the rest of the running gear in great shape. There is a lot of rust on the body and frame, you won’t want the 41 for this (IMHO, you may find otherwise).

This is a nice driving and running FJ40. The body has some rust issues, the floors are solid. The frame has surface rust, but it is solid. In the last 1000 miles the starter has been replaced, the carb has been rebuilt, the clutch slave cylinder has been replaced, and the belts have been replaced. This is a very unique truck with a frame-off restoration that took two years. The BJ42 is the Canadian diesel version of the Fj40 sold in the US. Very hard to get this truck registered and licensed in California which it is!! The truck has about 20,000 miles on it since the restoration.
The 3b motor was swapped for a 2019 R2.8 Cummins Diesel crate motor.

I return from a nice long ride, truck was running perfect like it always does. No smoke or any issues at all. I park it for an hour, then starts up sounding “different” stalls out and that’s it! Locked up, engine will not turn.
