I replaced the gaskets on either side of the throttle body to finally get it running right, adjusted the timing, replaced the fuel pump, sealed the fuel tank, made a new fuel line, installed a pioneer media deck in the center console,

Bad ass on those speakers, wish I would have thought of that!!

That's an awesome speaker mount! I might have to steal that idea some day!

Bad ass on those speakers, wish I would have thought of that!!

I also took the rear speaker box/woofer box from a 2nd gen 4Runner and put a 4" driver in it to make a bit of a sub box. It does better than you'd think for just a 4" driver but there not much low end when humming a long at 2000RPMs with a glasspack. The box sits under the console.

One of those weeks...

Discovered that, for the past 3 years, my distributor hadn't been bolted down :bang:

This could explain the rich running condition, idle issues, etc. I've been combatting from day one. Of course, the second I made this discovery, my ancient, hand-me-down timing light bit it. So, I have no idea what my engine timing is, or was, before I started fooling with it, but at least I found a potential issue!

Drove it to the library. Looks like I'm the only one who is cordless. What's wrong with young cars these days?

Well, I personally love it!! The more gas they save, is more gas I can put in my 79 FJ 40. And my 420 hp chevy pickup.

Good news! I spoke with my rebuilder and he's found everything we need for the rebuild. He ordered it all from his regular supplier. The Pistons are ITM RY6215-020 (RY6215 are dome-topped 75-80 and -020 means .020" over). They will be delivered later today.

I posted all the piston info I learned, while searching, in post 15 of THIS THREAD

Worked on the overheating issued I'd had since it warmed up hiere in Ky. After a new waterpump truck would run hot out on the road. Checked for air in cooling system. Finally got around to removing the T-stat and found some small pieces of rag stuck in it. I thought that was the problem, but still I checked the T-stat and it was working properly. Put it back together same problem. Though maybe the autometer gauge was faulty so I borrowed an infared heat gun...it showed everything was cool compared to the gauge. The factory gauge was showing hot also. I could not figure out where the rag had come from. At first I thought the engine builder had somehow left it the block somehow. Anyway I thought I would order a new radiator as I thought maybe it was just plugged up and not getting good flow. So finally at around 2 am one morning it hit me. Maybe the rad had come from a mouse nest. So I pulled the radiator and looked in the inlet, sure enough, more rag material. So I stuck the garden hose in the outlet and poked a rag around it to help make a tight seal. I then took a long brush with a wire handle and ran into the inlet with the water hose on. Lots of little pieces of rag materal flowed out. Put it back in the truck and problem solved. I had the radiator cleaned at a local shop and it set in the shop for about 8 months before I started back with it. So it you have a radiator sitting around my advice would be to seal it up good to keep those little critters out.

I've bought two junkyard motors that were full of some kind of either cloth or dog food that a rat/mouse had packed into the water neck or water pump!

Took my 40 to MEGA Church!

Annual DadFest Car Show. I was one of 20 invited to the inside show. Some 250 expected outside. Cool experience driving inside a church. A first for me!
