Is that cnc?
That looks awesome!!!

On a side note I was personally complimented on my "jeep" by none other than a sales associate at a Toyota dealership near me. Drove the 40 up to pick up parts and hear the young lad say... "Nice jeep, or Toyota jeep... What the hell is that thing?"

Just shook my head.

yup, happened to me at the dealership where murf works

oh, and I drove my 40 around the block

After very long deliberations on whether or not to drill holes for the rear emblems I decided NO holes so instead knocked off the studs with a Dremel and used layers and layers of double sided tape to install the bling.

Picked up a future project. No way to verify but supposedly had 200k km when pulled from a good running but rusty/beat 82 bj60. Most parts included and the price was more than fair so I took a chance on it.

I turned on the poor mans AC... opened all the windows... yes i know its not on the highest setting :)

One could look at it this way and ask these questions: Would you rather be sitting in the shade feeling the breeze or baking in the HOT SUN feeling the breeze? :meh:

I wouldn't know though......Oh well, another week gone by, and a little closer to completion of my engine swap!

Yes it is cnc'd. A buddy of mine made it for me. I have another carrier like that, that also goes in the spare tire carrier so I might have him make me a toyota emblem also.

I just picked up the rest of my parts from the paint shop. Time to get all of this mess put together for good! It's been a long time coming. I might just have to sit back, crack a beer, and stare at it for a while after its together. This has truly been a long term project for me. Pictures to come, soon!

Well... this week, I missed 44 terribly... but, not going to check on her yet.

As I said earlier, we were going to be gone camping and exploring for 'a week or two' and the weatherperson said there was a 'chance of snow' - 7 inches is more than a 'chance'! Gunner loved it!

We camped for 3 nights and it snowed about 7", then warmed slightly and rained - melting much of the snow... then it snowed again and got colder... then it sleeted... then it snowed again and we went for a drive and found ourselves in another near blizzard... so, we broke camp and got out of Pine Creek Campground before the horde of locusts came flying in...

We had only our first morning to hike and I got a picture of Gunner watching for my Son-in-Law's return from a foray by himself and Herc, his dog.

Here's the area we camped and hiked... taken on our way home, this morning... Pine Creek is the light green area (Aspens) in the right third of this picture.

I did get a decent picture of a flyover, the first morning.

We're gonna leave Sunday morning and try to get to Columbine Campground, off the Reese River Valley - but it's 8500+', so we may have to camp elsewhere - maybe the San Juan Creek area of the Toyoibe Range - Gunner and I have camped there before.

I finally got my hunting tag applications yesterday. I haven't gone elk hunting in over ten years. I just checked my preference points I have built up and I have ten for elk. Here in Oregon if you don't plan to hunt you can buy a preference point, one per year per hunt series (species). Those snow pictures have brought up the urge (wish) to go elk hunting again. But, that would require finding a new hunting group as the last group came apart. The patriarch of the group had a stroke almost six years ago and passed away almost two years ago. His son lost interest in elk hunting after his Dad's stroke, and another member is now up in his seventies.

Well... an update... while hiking, on Wednesday, I tripped and steadied myself with my trekking poles and felt like I had driven a very sharp spear up my right elbow. Worst pain I've ever experienced... but, I'm happy to say, it doesn't hurt much of the time... only if I make certain motions. So, now I have a vague inkling of how my Father felt when he was hit in the right elbow, during the Breakout at Saint Lo, on July 27, 1944. For anyone interested... check out my Father's story in the Veterans' Highway thread in Chit-Chat.

But, given the fact that I was sure I had ruptured a ligament, I went to the ER this morning and confirmed that I have an avulshion... e.g. I tore a ligament loose from my elbow to my tricep - it will take 8 weeks for it to heal itself... assuming it's not too bad... so, I have to see another orthopedist and get an MRI of my elbow/tricep... the ER doctor did confirm that it hurt like hell... here's a picture, for those of you who enjoy my photography.

My 20 feet of FJ40. After I finished yard work this morning I got after the 40. I managed to get some parts bolted on. There are still a few things I need to do before the cage goes in the tub and the tub on the frame. That's the plan for tomorrow.
