Agreed Oliver, and nice work on the swap. However, I get 16.5 mpg with my2f on the highway and here in the US diesel costs about 20-25 percent more than petrol. This means that diesel and petrol costs about the same amount per mile, not factoring in the cost of the swap. Had I stayed in Australia I would undoubtedly have swapped out the petrol lump but here it simply does not make sense. I have a diesel in my wife's Jeep liberty (cherokee in Oz) and love it, but it costs just as much to drive as it's petrol counterpart.

Add to that our very cold winters and high altitude (I live higher than Kosciusko) and I have to plug it in three or four months of the year to get her to start smoothly.

16.5 mph? Wow. Is it stock or desmogged? I'm about 6 mph under that.

16.5 mpg. That's non smog, as it's an Aussie rig with 5 speed, 4:11 and 33s. My balanced, ported and polished 2f with 5 speed and 3:73 got 18 hwy pretty consistently.

Wow, I'm down around 10-11 mpg. Granted, I've got a roof rack and RTT up top, and a 4-speed. I wonder how many mpg a 5-speed would save me?

More Rust and Crud... arggg.

Removed the oil pan in prep to install a new one with an oil temperature sender bung. Or should I say attempted to remove. Can't get out the oil pan due to the style of the sbc motor mounts, specifically the crossmember.

Might be able to get enough room to.move the oil pan back enough to.remove if I can remove the flywheel shield between the block and the bell housing. Need to to remove the starter to do that. Found the starter can not be removed due to the exhaust being in the way (block hugger headers) PB BLASTER on the exhaust. Hopefully I can remove the pan without removing the entire drivetrain. :bang: previous owners.

Got a 210 York today at pick and pull. Not going to get it in for a few weeks, but I'm finally after years of wanting OBA going to get it. Got the knuckles done, going to start on a cargo rack tonight. Lots of new toys Elsie just in time for summer.

Trying to find a tie rod end for it to get it back on the road. Does anyone know where I could get the tie rod that the rod has m16x1.5 right hand threads ? The only one I can find is the one with m17x1.5 right hand threads and it is nearly perfect other than the rod is 1 mm bigger in diameter.

Finally installed new Bilsteins, 4Plus U bolt flip kits and new 4Plus tie rod and relay rod as well as new ends. I got all 4 wheels back on and touching the ground for the first time in over a year.

Then I pulled the cage and bows and got them ready to prime and paint.

She started running hotter than normal this week. Installed a flush connection into the heater supply hose, opened the block drain for the first time in my life and gave her a good back flush, no issues. Installed a new 180* thermostat and I think I'm good to go, waiting a day to let the blue permatex set up before giving her a good test tomorrow.

Finally installed . . . . new 4Plus tie rod and relay rod . . . .

interested: I tried that and couldn't find a position where the rod clamps would not interfere with each rod moving - had to take the 4+ relay rod out again and run the stock relay rod with the 4+ tie rod - just could never fit both HD rods together

got any pics ?

I have the stock manual steering set-up

Nice weather today for a pressure wash (note the 36 years of dirt and road grime):

Installed my new Supertop. I know old doors, already had them, and it's all I can't afford new right now (I have a brand new Tigertop for sale in the classifieds, help me pay for the new doors, please!!). And I'm servicing the hubs (why it's not there), waiting on a kit for them. Next up is fabbing a tailgate for the new soft top.

Oh, and then putting in the AA bellhousing, installing the ram horns and exhaust, finish the.......

They do touch, but the steering seems fine. I will look at more closely this week when I get it on the road.
