Picked up a set of 33 x 10.50 15s. Great tires and i love the way they look. Plus they are much more stable than the 33 9.50s, which I still have....

WOW. Looks great. I need to see a shot of the front. Want to see how you have those lights mounted. Beautiful Cruiser!

Got front axle torn down, parts cleaned, and started media blasting.

Hey Josh,

What kind of lift are you running on your 77? Is that a 2 inch or a 4 inch? That's exactly the look I'm going for (some day).

Running a set of 2.5" SOR Springs with a Man-a-Fre SR in the front and 4" HD shackles in the rear. The springs are about 10 years old and have sagged about .75". Love the ride and it tracks straight as an arrow.

Josh - you're the one with the '40 I drool over every time I see it go down Walton Blvd! I'd like to check that thing out up close some time! - JP
Just shoot me a pm sometime.

Thanks!! I get a shot tomorrow an post it up

Installed a HI Lift on the front bumper, acted like a fool doing donuts in a snowy field and took it for a ride by the lake.

What engine are you mating to that?

For now I have convinced my father to donate a SBC 305 High Output, it is still fully assembled so I can save a little cash and throw it in. Once I decided to go with a SBC I wanted to do a 350, but I can bank a little cash over time and slowly assemble an engine on the stand. Who knows, with a 305 and this NV4500 maybe I can manage to get a little mileage out of it, but honestly I am just looking for a little reliability at this point!

OK - so what happened to the 2F you stuck in there after the 1F went belly up??

It is sitting in the garage. It lost compression and had a horrible lower end knock. After a few miles I dropped a few of the main caps and plasti-gauged the bearings, they had enough meat left on them, but they didn't look pretty... The oil pump went out on it pretty quick and I had to put a new one on, and a new pan b/c it was leaking so much. Then finally a month or two later it dropped compression on a cylinder. fully disassemble the head, everything looked fine, it could have used a valve guide or two, but the manifolds were wrapped and cracked. The pistons seemed to have a little slack in them, as if it was assembled with oversized rings and std pistons? I dunno but there was no visible sign of the loss of compression and blow-by, but I knew the lower end would need rebuilt anyway b/c of the knock...

I added up the prices and figured I would go with a free V8 and spend the money getting rid of the 3-speed....

After much issues with hard starting and stalling, pulled the gas tank and washed out the leaf, cockroach carcass, rust dust and what looked like apple seeds(?) . Added an electric fuel pump and presto - test run successful! Tune up and change of oils next - Lone Star roundup here I come...

Well that hoss has had a hard life - rode hard and put away wet way too many times!!!!:deadhorse:
