Put the rig on the highway for the first time EVA!! After 3 years of work and then a little overheating problem earlier this week, I finally got 15 highway miles.
new transfer case/pto/tranny oil, put rear doors back on, spare tire latch (have to do some work to get spare carrier to fit with new sill), has stock steelies back on all 4 corners (had minitruck wheels during welding work), and all stock hub caps back on..oh, and all new zinc plated bolts. if i got this much done everyday, this damn thing'd be done...

Installed a new bumper and new to me CL 8274-50, fun wrenching!
Just went driving, back roads to get paint and finish up painting the garage. Then back again, the long way, to get more.supplies.
its actually been about two weeks since i got mine. 1983 fj40 with 92 gmc 5.7l but i havent had much time to work on it. it started as this
it was wrecked then sat for the past 15 years.. really good body. very little rust.
i changed oil, changed fuel, new spark plugs, new wires, new cap and rotor, 3.5" lift changed the 32" 15x8 wheels to 37" 15x10 aluminum, before i go to smog i decided to rebuild the fuel injected throttle body and while i was there i took off the intake manifold and valve covers, stripped them down and repainted them. i gutted the hard top and sold it, removed the floor mats since the insulation caused me grief, i went around and wire wheeled any rust spots, repainted them(matches great) and pounded out the dents in the front fender and grille area, repainted the headlight shround, installed black housing HID headlights, buffed and polished the body, added battery, replaced steering coiupler, i have a 3 core aluminum radiator on the way since the old brass 4 core was leaking bad....maybe more lol. looks like i have some steering parts i need replaced. eventually want to go soa if i keep it. id also clean up the engine bay, get rid of all the cluster mess

I have pulled the trigger on my "Rattle can Resto". I am not going the whole tear down route...just taking off the old flaking paint and respraying a new color to stop surface rust. I know it may bite me in the end, but I have some rust to take care off (cut and weld) so this is just a quick fix to stop any new rust. The color is Oregano (Satin) Maybe someday when all the rust is gone I might do a proper tear down paint job. Here it is so far.

Finally got the restomod wheels and BFG unobtainium 345 x 16 KM2 done....the new shoes:
(Kept the hubcap allignment just inside the tire, but not too deep so it still looks "stock"

Bought a new set of tie rod ends a few weeks ago and finally got round to fitting them. I borrowed a seperator tool from a friend and set to work tonight. It has taken me nearly 2.5 hours, but WOW! What a difference!! Who needs power steering??
Just bought a few more bits from Jakarta too - new speedo cable, oil gauge, oil pressure sender, water temp sender and a few other pieces.

Brought it home! 1981 BJ42, 1100km through the Canadian Rockies in a vehicle that has sat still for something like a dozen years.

It's been a while because I've been working on my brothers boat but I finally got the bib off and started cutting out all the spot welds for the lower hinge support. Got it all cleaned up and made my own support out of 18g sheet metal. Just used one piece and bent it over like a piece of angle iron and flared some wings up for the side supports. Spot welded it all back in and used the die grinder to smooth it all out. Now I'm ready for my new to me head light bezel.
Nothing but I did send it to the body shop two months ago so they could cut out some small rust spots...and freshen up the 10 year old paint job.....
Went to the shop on friday and they said it should be wrapped up with it by next week....she is looking amazing!!!!!!!! can't wait

I got a inspection sticker and now I am on the road.
Replaced the brake booster check valve ,trying to get the brakes to work better??? Booster passes all test ,good front pads,rotors and new rear shoes????Pedal engages 2/3 down ,just don`t feel right......
