Never thought a hose would get me excited, but replaced the gas filler hose and the clamps, all courtesy of of @cruisermatt

I also replaced the old worn out screws with stainless.

I’m going in coach. Replacing the radiator as it had a very minor leak…Toyota OEM going in. Water pump was also weeping. Sending that off to Oregon to a company that re-machines and does all the rebuild. While the 40 is down I’ll be replacing the side engine gasket and cleaning everything up as much as possible.

I’m superstitious in that I ALWAYS replace the thermostat when I pull a radiator and/or water pump. I’ve had several instances of having a cooling system open for less than an hour and having a thermostat stick.🤬

I did those items in the reverse fashion; Mark, the above poster, set me up with a new correct water pump,
but I had my old radiator resoldered at a local radiator/gas tank repair shop that also resoldered my gas tank.
Mark probably made sure that I replaced the T-stat, too!

Oh yes! I’ve got a new thermostat and gasket as well. Hopefully don’t have to do it again…ever..haha.

I hope one day before the last episode I can head west and see this incredible monument to Land Cruiser. Looks like your having a good time Jen

I have tried to see it on no less than 3 occasions and every time something went wrong. Trying for the 4th time next month.
Well worth the visit, you should definitely make it happen this 4th time around…the collection is pretty amazing!

Yeah, it was a ton of fun being there and soaking up all that Land Cruiser history! Although, I would have had a lot more fun if they let me try on those sweet Japanese foil fireman outfits or some of the vintage Toyota jackets… but they crushed my dreams and said absolutely not.

Wondering, since I am not familiar with the Land Cruiser Heritage Museum…did you find your year FJ40 and was it a representative sample of “correct stock” ? Are the vehicles on display unmodified versions?
