Working on reassembly. This week I refinished the steering column cover. Products used shown. Same ones I used for steering wheel refinish. (EDIT: this is ABS plastic so had to use Sand Free adhesion promoter product. The type of plastic really matters so select the adhesion promoter carefully. You have to read the SEM website guide carefully and it’s hard to find the right one. I’ll provide the link if I find it again).

SEM is amazing. I love their products.

SEM is amazing. I love their products.
I like their stuff as well, although I changed up to Upol weld through primer after I had a few bad cans of SEM. Talking with the SEM support people they stated that all the cans I had were beyond the shelf life, by like a month. Turns out it's a common problem when buying from large companies (Summit Racing) that buy in bulk.

I switched up and bought the Upol from a small paint shop that was local.

The Upol was leaps and bounds beyond the SEM as far as quality. Think "consumer grade" vs true "industrial grade" stuff.

I barely made it out of my garage after spraying the Upol on a small section, the SEM didn't try to kill me (instantly).

And I did have a couple fresh cans of the SEM copper weld directly from SEM before I switched to the Upol.

I don't remember buying it, but feel free to drop it off, I'll use it!
I’ve done that a few times, almost won an auction on a ‘62 F100 that I didn’t remember bidding on.

One of the best things I’ve added to mine, was less than $60 when I got mine

The kit I got in the mail this week was just over $40. That was from an out of state dealer so no state tax and free shipping offer from Toyota on orders of $75 or more. Extra $35 in parts is not a problem.

Now if I could just find a similar kit for the FJ62.

You can always go down the rabbit hole and swap out the front clip and do the round-eyes conversion. That's basically what I did with my '89 FJ62 donor vehicle, which had front end body damage - drove it that way for quite a few years before I started my '86 FJ60 build. BTW, the FJ62 is on the right.

Installed a cb40f in my 79. @Engineer8000 did an amazing job reproducing the wiring harness originally available to connect the cb40f to a stock am radio and use the same incoming power and single speaker along with the "stand-by" mode on the cb. Works like a charm, some pretty stellar work by Russ. If you happen to have a cob40f and want to use it as intended w the stock radio, hit up @Engineer8000

Those stripes are :smokin::smokin::smokin:

The P.O. had cut up the transmission hump to bypass the vacuum shifter with a homemade handle shifter.
I had bought an unmolested transmission hump to modify for my 4-speed transmission. But I decided to try my hand at patching the old one instead for practice.
I still have a lot of work to do and I had to stop for rain but here is my first attempt to patch & weld sheet metal.

If I am successful, I will be selling this clean early transmission hump.

I made a little progress fixing the hack job that the P.O. did on my transmission hump.
I am also mounting an FJ60 shifter cover on top of my 68' transmission hump for the
4-speed & the manual T-Case shifter.

Started it for the first time since I put it in the ditch in early December, had to plug in the trickle charger yesterday due to the battery being dead. Pulled it out of the garage and let it get some fresh air. Maybe tomorrow I'll drive it around for a bit.

Ran Eagle Rock and Saran Wrap yesterday with @LandLocked93 and my friend in a Heep. It was fun, a little slippery (front and rear locks about 90% of the time), and a good trail that I want to run again. For some reason, my GoPro decided to corrupt the video in some places, IDK what is up with that. Also, sorry for my sniffles. It was cold.

Timelapse of the run. The 40 performed flawlessly.

Did you make that thing that goes around the bezel? If not where did you get it?

It's a Metaltech piece. I added the lower hoop that protects my light bar on there.
