Spent a few days exploring Gifford Pinchot National Forest with the family. Found some good camping and hiking spots. Took our rescue dog on his first waterfall hike too. He loves the water.

I put some air in the tires, does that count?

Did the so called golden loop from Haines to Skagway. It's about 450 miles. In the Yukon we checked out Alsek valley road. Tours start at $375 if you're so inclined. 4×4 Alsek Valley Wilderness Tour – Mount Logan EcoLodge - https://mountloganlodge.com/tour/4x4-wilderness-tour/
The road had a long, not too deep water crossing early on that was no problem. The alluvial fan that followed was quite rough. Eventually one of the departure angles was obviously a bit too much for the bike carrier hanging off the back so I parked the beast and we walked our bikes just a bit to reach the better gravel road. The original idea was to get some exercise biking anyway, once deeper inside the valley. No one else was out there besides a local ATV that was checking out my vehicular progress. He gave me a thumbs up. Final photo is Laughton glacier near Skagway. You must take the White Pass train in order to access the trail head.

Swapped out all of the plugs with OEM ones. Ordered a window belt molding kit and a manual antenna from ASR Parts and grabbed the plugs to get free shipping!
The bad: it took me longer to retrieve the extension I dropped down the firewall that never hit the ground than it did to change the plugs!!

Nah, they are carbon. I keep going back and forth with my recurve. I love cedar but the carbon arrows are so strong and consistent.
My dad used to own an archery shop in Chicago in 60s and one in Flagstaff in the 70s. One of the hazards of shooting the cedars was that you had to be very careful when shooting them repeatedly. He had two of his customers put a cedar arrow into their bow arm as they had cracked and the shooter did not realize it. One was minor, the second was pretty gruesome from his description. Aluminum arrows, when they came out, solved a lot of problems associated with the wooden shafts.

Filled up today and sat down to update my fuel log:

First fill, November 1st 1993.
Total fills, 932.
Fuel pumped, 19,279.0 gallons.
$ total, $45,608.65.
Miles traveled, 223,743.4
Average fuel economy, 11.6055 MPG.
Fuel costs, $.2038 per mile.

I retro-fitted a factory subtank on February 21st 2005. since then that tank has been in the rotation at all times. If not for that, the total number of stops would have been much greater.

Oooof on the 11.6

Changed the oil and filter again (Mobil1 5W30 and Toyota -YZZD3 filter), drained the catch cans and filled it up with non-ethanol 90 octane fuel.
And added some R-134a and new grip tape to the top of the MetalTech sliders

Changed my rear shocks and springs out from 2863s to 2863Js. Was getting a little sag fully loaded. Also went back to the OEM wheels, something about them… Knew the top of the garage would be close, but 😮

New 37x12.50 Maxxis Razr's made it onto the truck yesterday. The Kenda Klever MT2's I've been running got moved to the '85 Hilux project. Like truck is pretty freaking huge with 37's on it. I might end up removing a leaf to get it to sit a bit lower, but love how the truck looks on 37's. Will be fun with the 1UZ.

Mine is far less impressive

First: 11/27/22
Total fills: 127
Fuel pumped: 2265.10
Total cost: 10,571.84
Miles: 37870.9
Avg mpg: 16.75(best is 20.7)
Fuel per mile: .28(fuel costs have been wild since I bought)
I've paid as much as $5.95 a gallon
