Tackled a couple small things yesterday. The gas struts for the hood and liftgate have been getting tired and the cold weather has made it more of an issue. So I got all four struts replaced. @LandCruiserPhil I know you've been looking for compatible struts. Maybe you found some already but here's the links to the ones I used. Ordered from Amazon. Fit will and seem to be decent quality. Time will tell.

The other thing I've been trying to solve in a variety of ways has been a dome light over the front seats that illuminates when the doors open. I know others have done different things but I found a simple little LED at the local parts store that fit very well right on the "foot" of the rear view mirror. I tapped the wires into the harness for the small lights on the doors that come on when the door opens. Works great and now I have a nice bright cabin in the front as well as the second and third rows. I already have PFran LEDs in the overhead map light and in the rear dome light. My 2nd row dome lights are incorporated into my overhead DVD player. All of them come on when any door is opened.

I literally just ordered these exact ones for my hood earlier today. Hope they work out.
Finished up landtank caster plate install, added 30mm front coil spacer while I was in there. Oh, and fixed the wobbly mirror!! Great weekend! Drive GREAT with the new caster plates!! The stance wasn't horrible but it's all I could see when I looked at it. Now, sits perrrrrrrfect!

Ive heard this, poly is not what i wanted, but i have a plan when they wear out. I also have about 3 sets of poly bushings laying around if i am lazy and don’t feel like fabbing when they go. If i had my way, it would have been 1.25” heims on all ends of the links, but i no longer have a guy with a lathe to make me custom misalignments.

It's not secret that poly bushings don't flex all that well. The Metal Tech arms or the Trail Tailor arms that utilize a Johnny Joint in one end are better because the joint allows for the flex. I've heard a lot of the same issues with the Metal Tech arms and the joints wearing out quickly. But I had no such issues with the TrailTailor arms when I had them for a solid year of hard wheeling. My only complaint about that style arms (and it's even more severe with Heims) is that the ride is a bit more rough and vibrations are transferred through the arms more because of the solid type ends. The joints or heims can also be a bit noisy, and the poly ends wear out fast if you flex the suspension regularly. I've really liked the Blackhawk arms that used OEM rubber bushings. The flex is as good as I was getting with the Trail Tailor arms but the ride feels smoother because the rubber absorbs the vibrations that can be felt with the other ones. The Rubber bushings also last much longer than poly bushings and typically longer than a Johnny Joint will as well, although the Johnny Joint can be rebuilt, where a failed rubber bushing will need to be replaced.
With the snow starting to fall here in SLC, I have been driving the 80 more. Tonight pulling into work I pulled up next to this sweet rig.
That is a sweet rig. Honestly it's not, although it is rare to see both composite and 7" round headlights on the same vehicle. Interesting rear tire carrier on the fender. Must be the Mega Beetle model. They were rare for a reason.
Changed the fuel filter on mine and replaced the heater/ac controls illumination bulbs. Installed FR/RR Diff Lock Switch.

With the truck fully loaded for cross country the white line sway bar up front makes ALL the difference in the world no more body roll at all even with the Maggiolina RRT up top. If I didn’t have quick connects from @LandCruiserPhil I wouldn’t be running the front sway. But I do and I am. So I have white line heavy duty sway bar front and rear
