Had the crank seal replaced (no more oil leak!), did some interior rehab, installed a new stereo, then headed down to Big Bend for some desert camping.

I amazoned me up some assorted sized ferrite chokes to counteract the massive amount of RFI from my new Rigid D2s.

With loop as seen, works like a charm, back to normal that is. And my normal is no functional antenna, but a stubby in the hole.

Tight loop and as close to the light as possible seemed to be best. I tried several variations of loops, and tested on the weakest signal FM Station.

Without loop, did not work very welll.
So...add the loop, get close and you're good to go. Adding more chokes also not that effective. YMMV

The light above the D2 is a 100w Piaa halogen driving light. No RFI issues there.

Plugs, wires, cap, rotor, PCV valve/grommet/hoses.

It was time...

There is something wrong with your 80, it sure looks small next to the 100 series... I didn't think they were that much bigger.
My 80 is stock suspension and 285s. The 100 has AHC with ~2.5” lift running 295/70/18.

oh that is a great idea, what light did you use? its perfect.
Rigid Industries SRM, amber. They almost perfectly fit the end of the frame, so I made a bracket for them. My first welding project actually, and I used steel that was wayyy overkill for the job :). Not especially pretty, but it'll do.

Will be back down to the Sea of Cortez in a couple weeks for Semana Santa then off to the Maze District with @Shoredreamer a couple days later. :steer::clap:

Note: Everything is paved from San Felipe to Bay of La except ~20 miles and I was able to average ~30mph on the dirt.

What did you do with your 80 this weekend: maintenance, fix, wheel, nothing, new mod??

Me:
Checked air in tires
Change oil&filter 180,000
Fill gas tank
Waiting on box of parts from Beno

Traded a 1987 SR5 4RUNNER straight across for our first 80.

So aside from an oil change and tune up, the entire family just...fell in love with our new ride.
