Took pics when I needed to stop to air down more, went down to 20 from 25, made a big difference, but I think tires are in the future. Hopefully some 33x10.5r15's (31's now) will give enough flotation with less air down. First 3fe noticeable lack of power was plowing through the soft stuff in 4H, air down and 4L fixed that.

Earlier this week got the motor mounts, fan clutch, front diff fluid changed, hp power steering hose, and oem steering stabilizer installed.

One more edit: the trail to the beach had some good texture, it's a road that was paved about 100 years ago, so mostly dirt , deep big puddles, big dips and big chunks of old road surface. Took it slow on the way in to survey, then took it fast on the way out. The TD foam cells really showed their value, rode great with the original springs.
Pick up a 100 dollar power washer keep that sand out.

Never skip scraper day. Mine never leaves the truck unless it's in my hand I and I am using it to either scrape the windshield or hunt down whomever agreed to 6 more weeks of winter. Today was fantastic though. I bet it was 50 degrees on my blacktop and on the roof of the LC while I tossed in the new sunroof. I had to take my sweater off. Sheesh.

You need one of these! Huge time saver!

Today I used my "big heavy gas guzzling 80" to drive up to the fire hall for my first day of training driving the tanker. I will never again feel like my 80 is heavy, slow, or goes through a lot of fuel. Also, I have far fewer cool lights on my 80.

On the website they describe the water as sulfurous. Does it smell like sulfur?

"Enjoy the desert sunset and sunrise, green palm trees and the sulfurous warm water that will relax your mind as well as your body."

Not at all very clean and clear. Tubs are freshly filled when you get there and if needed you can drain and refill overnight:flipoff2::eek:

What he said. I’ve been in hot springs where they turn all your silver rings or whatever black. Not these.

You know...

My rear diff has developed a whine as my pinion bearing is slowly going south. It was leaking at 235K and I replaced the seal and tightened the pinion nut just a smidgen. Got another 25K out of it but in the last 2K the pinion bearing has developed a pronounced whine.

Today I ventured into uncharted territory for me and pulled the e-locker diff from my parts truck to swap into my LX. Depending on how the spare runs, one or the other diff will be sent down to Zuk for refurbishing.

Pulling the third was something I had never done before and the frozen E-locker actuator just made it a little bit more of a challenge. I can't thank the contributors on MUD enough for all the good photos and "how to" posts in the archives. It made disassembling the actuator and manually forcing the locking fork to the locked position fairly straightforward. Now I have the opportunity to refurbish the actuator as well.

Observations: Soaking everything in penetrant for 24 hours made most fasteners come off with out a struggle. An impact gun was able to reach 95% of the nuts and made the job easier. Sliding the diff onto a floor jack instead of manhandling it on your back is recommended :)

Sorta like the way the guy in this vid does? I think I want to try this out as long as I think I will be able to slide the old runs back in. All of rubber is in good shape and not just buying a new one of everything on the truck seems alright as far as Mr. Wallet is concerned.

@Red Merle - I've seen this video too, but what is missing is the reinstallation process. That is the bitch part of the job, which goes undemonstrated. Getting 'em out is easy. As far as the clean and replace approach, that seems sound save for the fact that mine weren't full of red dirt from the outback, just dry and shrunken from 24 years of service. I am running one old one and one new one and the new one is considerably more flexible/pliable, and better in terms of smoothness/speed of window operation. The parts are expensive for sure, but old rubber is old rubber, sadly. Maybe someone can try and restore theirs (a lenghty armor all soak?) and share results. Would be great not to have to pay for rear window runs, too!

Bashed bumper a bit more straight with the help of brother in law, a few 2x4s and a BFH. Then mocked up the new lights, installed new turn signal lenses/housings and put in a bunch of LED bulbs. The cheapie 1156s I got from AMZN worked fine for reverse lights but for turn signal they created an error where the flashing was really fast on the left, and set off a horrible buzzing noise when I moved the stalk to the right -- so those got regular bulbs! Sold an E30 325iX longblock, too! :)

Successfully relocated all my belongings and my 97 LX from Grand Junction, CO back home to Northern Minnesota. The 26' Uhaul towed the 80 like it wasn't even there, pretty impressed with how easy the drive was. Except for Vail Pass and up to the Eisenhower Tunnel, that was to the rugs, redline, and 30 mph. I expected that though!

I was guessing he cut the video short when he went to reinstall them because of the hassle that probably entailed. As for the rubber, mine is in really good shape. My truck has always been garaged and it spent the better part of 14 years being stored except for a handful of days each year. I might try the driver's side, just to see how the cleaning idea goes, although just spraying silicone has helped dramatically and it has held up all winter. maybe that is all mine needed and i should just quit while I am ahead...

I was working the Sportsmen's Expo in SLC over the weekend. This meant swapping out my old canopy on my Tepui tent for one of the new ones with their new logo and a couple other small changes. My favorite change is the addition of their new "zipper gimp" that lets you change out the canopy for a different one in about 90 sec. Really cool feature. But if anyone is looking for a Olive Green canopy for a Kukenam Ruggedized XL let me know. Mine's still in great shape. There's a FS thread in the classifieds.

Also finally pulled the trigger on an awning after years of sitting on the fence about whether I wanted one or not. :)

The drive home yesterday from the show was pretty awesome with another snow storm blowing in. Made for some awesome clouds.
