Well done, you have more determination than me... I just zip tied it... I'm not going for any purest points.

Please don't tell anybody. I won't do it again. It's really stupid what I did. Not worth it. You don't accomplish anything over the zip tie method.
I saw it as a challenge and saw a way to retain it.
All the scratches on my hands and fingers are a reminder my brain is not always on my side. Just like every time it tells me not to wear gloves, or wear flip flops when doing work on the car or splitting wood.

Wrapped up the crossmember. First step in overhauling crappy rear suspension.

Looks good man! There may come a time where I either go this route with my own 80 or, (more likely) get another 80 and do some custom link stuff so I enjoy following yours to see how you're getting it done.

Busy week / weekend and a thank you to a fellow MUD member for coming over to help out on Saturday.

White Knuckle

Trail Tailor

This seal

This O-ring and the dizzy o-ring too

4Crawler 1" body lift

Hillbilly body lift tool ... black locust log

New radiator, rad hoses, thermostat, idler and AC pullies, new transmission hoses and all new clamps

Already found the next item on the "To Do" list unfortunately

Thanks, appreciate it! I really wish the gas tank was mounted somewhere else at the factory. Would really open up lots of options for addressing the suspension. The guy that built my quarter panel armor makes some really cool stuff for the XJ/ZJ Jeeps. Bolt-on 3 link and double triangulated 4 link setups with integrated skid plates. What I wouldn't give for something like this!

LandCruiser body on frame > unibody. ;)

You could easily drop a fuel cell where the stock spare was, but to get big capacity then you have clearance issue. I think if you were creative you could have a custom cell made with clearance in mind that is deeper close to the axle and angles up to the rear.

Oh no doubt. But with the gas tank not in the way we could really get creative.

Did cross my mind before. But with the setup I'm doing now it wouldn't work. I want to try and run 14" coilovers behind the axle slanted in and back to avoid having to cut the floor. I also have the big piece of DOM tube in that area for the Ruffstuff swaybar. Would need to be a much smaller fuel cell to fit in the space I have left.

Just remember as you change the angle of the coilovers you reduce the effective spring rate and valving. If you are using 2" coilovers might be an issue.

Yeah. If I can get it to work it would look something like this. Angle won't be too extreme

That looks really good, I look forward to what you come up with! It is not easy to squeeze a 14" coilover under a wagon with decent ride height but that looks like a good plan!

There is quite a bit of work right there, the notch in the frame rail, the double reinforced upper mount, etc. What is that under?

This is the 4WU kit for 4runners and mini trucks. Rear Coilover Mounting

Still TBD if it will work on an 80 due to ride height like you mentioned. If this doesn't work I'll have to go through the floor which I'm not opposed to - but if I can avoid it that'd be even better.

Flew to Oregon, signed the title and bill of sale, spent sat/sun driving it home to MO. 2016 miles, so I blew out the cob webs and broke a passenger window regulator not noticing the window was frozen.
Where in Oregon?
