I love a good solder joint but in an engine bay that has lots of heat cycles and vibration a crimp is the way to go. Toyota crimps all the connections in the engine bay and even recommends not to solder. Even though a proper solder joint will...
You will get several answers. I prefer solder with heat shrink, but I've been working with soldering irons since the 1980s. A bad solder joint is just asking for trouble. If your skills are questionable, then crimp connections are better, but you...
Time for some front swaybar action
Trying out this lazy location for the swaybar mount.
I did build this side with a thick peice of metal and a brace below.
The passenger side link is too long.
But at least it's in and I can make...
I had to read this ad 6 times before it almost made sense. It could be because I’m 🚬 or because you’re not in marketing or both. Either way, bump and good luck finding the one.
In the first post the OP states that the engine was running and just stopped and now the engine cranks over with the starter but the dizzy doesn’t rotate. Yank that valve cover…..
Haven't posted I here for awhile. Rig has been running great except a dead battery from a bad door switch. Other than that I am getting a suspicious noise from the ac belt idler pulley.
It's been about 40,000 miles since I got the rig and did...
Good morning!
I forgot I ordered the leathers for all three rows from Mosley Motors/@FJ60Cam
These are for the 40th, but they’re really nice. They feel great, supple and soft. I’m thinking of ordering a set for Schtalin, but I’m not convinced...
Sounds like you need to pull the valve cover and verify why the distributor is not rotating. Perhaps the timing chain broke, in which case, your friend would be more correct than he or she knows.
I’m looking for 4 old, small tires on wheels with correct 6 on 5.5 lug pattern that I can use as rollers for a project here on my property not for road use so condition of the assemblies is not too much of a consideration. I’m in the Battle...
I have these 4 practically new Mickey Thompson mud terrains in 37x12.5R17 on my 80 which got wrecked last spring and it’s obvious I won’t be needing tires like this for the replacement rig for the unforeseeable future. No sense in letting these...
Agreed on the solenoid. I don’t know about the wheel play issue but I tried unplugging the solenoid on my HDJ81 and it felt like I didn’t have power steering.
Did it maybe get fried or damaged when welding on those reinforcement plates?
I just bought a 1993 LC a few weeks ago and am starting on the restoration process. It's definitely going to be a long process and not a simple one, but it will give me something extra to do and I'm in no hurry to get it perfect right away...
FYI you can use a telescoping rod to set toe with the tires on - I just eyeball the rear at somewhere 1/8 to 3/16 more than the rod set to hold itself between the tires to the front (as pictured).
I don’t worry about exactness - I do think a...
