You haven't lived until you have had staples in your head. I have managed that feat a few times. Now I am old and bald and my head looks like a roadmap. Glad you are OK, head injuries are no joke! Island girls should stick to the water!
Oh she stuck it on the water all right!

UltraGauge EM can only display what Toyota gives access to. Looking at the list 75% is not available on a 80 series. The MX unit claims the ability to show trans temp but I have yet to see anyone with a 80 series or late model 100 series get trans temp out of an ultragauge. I get trans temp from all my 100 series from 1999 - 2006 using an ScanGauge.

You can also calibrate a ScanGauge to display accurate MPH something an Ultragauge can not do. Correct me if wrong but if your UltraGauge is not showing correct speed than your MPG, DTE, MPG, Avg MPH and other MPH related info is not accurate either.:meh:

Like most stuff they all have some positive and some negative feature. Im happy with both given me what I want is both the 80 and 100 series.
incorrect on the speedo from the UG. It can be calibrated to show correct speed. I use it for that as one of the persistent gauges on mine since I don't have any other speedo correction.
That way all of what you said would not be accurate can be made to be accurate.

So, the next time you try ice skating, a helmet might be in order?
Next time!?!?! There definitely will not be a next time for me on the ice....will be staying with warm sand and non frozen water from here on out.

I'm with you girl. Skating and skiing have left me with too many bumps and bruises. Can't remember the last time I slipped on a beach...:)

Another awesome run with the Central Oregon Landcruisers. It got DEEP!

Found it! Not very straight forward but doable given your time -

How to calibrate distance using a GPS and a calculator:

NOTE
This distance calibration method is based on using GPS speed.
GPS speed is most accurate when driving in a straight line at a constant speed.

Step 1: Add a speed gauge (e.g. on page 1 zone 1 of the Ultragauge)
MENU Gauge/Page Menu .. Select Gauge/Page .. Select Gauges Select Page 1 Gauges
Use UP & DOWN keys to Navigate to MPH or KPH
Press MENU. This will cause the cursor to blink.
Pressing UP or DOWN change the number to 1
Press MENU to assign the Gauge to that Page 1 Zone 1.
Leave the menu by selecting Back, etc
The Ultragauge should now show the MPH or KPH on page 1
Step 2: Grab your calculator and your GPS navigation device, get in your car and head for the motorway.
Step 3: While driving at a constant high speed for at least a few seconds note down the speed readings of the Ultragauge and the GPS.
The readings are probably different.
Step 4: Find a convenient place to stop, switch on your calculator and do the following calculation: GPS speed reading divided by Ultragauge speed reading.
Step 5: Adjust the "Distance cal." factor in the Ultragauge
Menu - Vehicle Setup - Calibration - Calibrate Distance
Note the distance value shown by Ultragauge and on the calculator multiply this by the factor found in step 4
Press MENU and press UP or DOWN to adjust the distance value to the calculated value.
Press MENU to store the updated distance value. The Ultragauge now shows the new Distance cal. value
Leave the menu by selecting Back, etc
Switch off your calculator

Step 6: Take another drive on the motorway and check if the GPS speed reading and the Ultragauge speed reading at constant speed are now the same.
Step 7: If necessary make fine adjustments to the distance calibration value until GPS speed and Ultragauge speed are identical.

Can you share your cost estimate for the 4.88 gear install? I'm very interested in doing the same. I'm more than happy with the stock 4 low gearing.
Basically 1K for gears from Nitro and 700 for install from a local off road shop...

You still selling your truck? Could've sworn I saw it in the Classifieds section...maybe I'm losing it.
No you aren't losing it, I listed in there and then my work schedule got the best of me. This gear install has been a long time coming. I want to go ahead and have it done and then reevaluate. I love my 80, so maybe I will add to the stall instead of replacing, but we shall see...

well. some wins. some losses.
I have a thread going on the 30mm cranky crank bolt already...Bannana needs help. 30mm crank bolt siezed?

but for the wins..
Because I'm a  and got bored and had time on my hands while dealing with the cranky crank bolt, I popped off the 5 exposed oil pump cover screws in under 3 minutes (Milwaukee 18v impact driver + custom cut makita impact gold #3 bit - will post pics later)...I have torx heads to replace them.

The dumb t-bar + #3 JIS bit from amazon...not good. I tried on one, and way to hard to keep it from caming out - too hard to keep it perfectly aligned, watched it start to cam...scary. Will post pics later too. Just an awkward space to work in. prob pulling the radiator to work on the crank bolt...

Dizzy oring replaced easy peasy. Followed threads here + fsm. Win. Haven't checked timing yet (obviously) but no oil in the cap and the new rotor showed up as I was putting it back together, that was perfect timing...amazon same day delivery...(the PO said rotor was new. false. Cap was new, but his mechanic didn't install a new rotor, which was listed as a part on his bill.)

Most of all...really appreciating the community here!

Not 80 related but went to Green Bay Wisconsin to pick up a customer's rig. It was a fun trip with all the snow and cold weather. The Dodge didnt skip a beat. Great to have the first cruiser in the new LCH shop in Hagerstown MD. Still not finished construction but coming along just fine!!

Got my 80 back from a $1600 paint job locally. I would say it's basically good enough, definitely a few spots where it's not perfect though. I'm glad I took off everything I did.

Ordered new mirrors and door handles, new windshield gasket, and a bunch of parts for PM.

The engine oil pressure is too impressive for the fully warmed up engine.

I've had that reading since I've switched to 0w40 three years ago. It's seems that she likes it. I hope that's good. Lol.

Where'd you get it painted for $1600? Inc. shaving the fender flare holes?

Ended up with a leaky rear axle seal after the gear install, had planned on doing the rear when changing gear oil after break in. Instead I did it tonight using the Terrain Tamer kit, it doesn't include the small inner axle seals luckily I had some stashed away and was actually able to find them.

Water on the floor from thawing the truck out makes everything more fun while wrenching.

A place in Garden Grove, CA called Silvar Auto body. Included welding up the flare holes and repairing some dents. I tried to do most of the prep work myself. If you're local let me know and I'll give some tips to get the best results, I could have probably done a little more.

300,000 mile service. New rotors up front and new pads all the way around.
I know it sounds crazy, but I think it runs better.

Put some miles on the 80. Spent the morning up on Northshore to watch the final day of the Pipe Masters, then the south shore in the afternoon to watch the sun go down.
