Ordered a new Tough Dog stock height suspension kit for the wife's rig.
Oil change and radiator flush today. Ordered a few maintenance parts as well.

I can't find any specs on Tough Dog here. I see it in your sig, but there is nothing on your website either.
T/D website, same thing, lacks any info.
Do you happen to have any specs for their springs? Height sizes, dual rate, progressive, constant, loads, etc?
I swear I searched.
I drove about 1100 miles from Atlanta to Vermont....
Don, that's two tires lost on the freeway my brother..... how many angels are you going to exasperate? Time to pull the safety card on the wify & get some new tires. IT'S TIME.I almost rolled it, but not on the trail.

Heading up HWY 99 at 8:00 Saturday morning, the LH Rear tire decided to throw off half its outer tread. This put the rear end into a fishtail situation, and my foot slamming on the brake pedal exacerbated it. It felt like we slewed back and forth at least five times, but it was probably only three or four.
![]()
Once I had it straightened out, I limped over to a wide spot on an overpass and waited for my nerves to settle. Not wanting to deal with the dangers of using the Hi-Lift, I first called AAA and scheduled to have a tech sent out. They made it sound like it would only be a half-hour wait, so I was fine with that.
I spent a little time preparing for the change; getting the spare off the swingout, pulling the lug nuts out of the toolbox (for the Tacoma wheel that the spare was on), and making sure we were far enough off the road.
After an hour had passed with no word from AAA, I grabbed the bottle jack I was also carrying and had it changed within 10 minutes.
Our destination was Bald Mountain to meet a group of wheelers who were treating several teenage boys from a "teen ranch" to a run, lunch, and a speaker.
Kaden was my copilot.

Since I was so late, I didn't get to have any of the boys as a passenger, but was able to help haul a spare tire into another member who had gashed his sidewall in the first creek crossing.
The views from the tower were pretty good that day...

On the way back, we were able to help clean up the broken glass from a 4Runner that had rolled on Posi Hill.

sweet, another dual rate suspension opton.Well guys the R&D extended travel aka TOUR FLEX springs set up has arrived.
SPRINGS- 75mm lift are made with XK5 German spring steel, fronts- 17mm and rears- 19mm wire diameter.
Fronts are 545-535mm with a rate of 180-270LB/"
Rears are 555-545mm with a rate of 180-320LB/"
SHOCKS- are a 45mm (1.77") bore FOAM CELL TWIN TUBE design with a 70mm (2.75") casings and 9 stage adjustable to boot as a standard option with this kit. This means 800% adjustability on all four corners and per corner, not to mention an adjustable steering stabilizer.
STEERING STABILIZER- has a 35mm (1.38") bore and adjustable as well. Tune your steering to your liking and your needs in seconds.
CASTER CORRECTION- TD offers 2-6 degree correction in bushing and plate designs options.
I will be installing the rear setup in my 100 to get some install measurements, real life use with comments and pics of course and then I will be needing a 80 owner (I have a growing list already, but no serious takers yet...) to come to the shop for the install, take measurements, spend an extra day with me for misc trail runs and then a full report and pics as well.
**NOTE** For the guys that have to have/want a reservoir adjustable shock (I'm assured by TD this is not necessary, but to each their own...), no worries... as of today I am a KING shock distributor as well and I can get you fixed up with your desired wants.
Also, once I like what the end result is.... turnaround time should be 2 weeks on full kits delivered to the customer. Even less once I have the stock order received. Most all that know me or have worked with me on their custom orders know that I am 110% about communications (good, bad or indifferent) You will always know what I know about OUR orders.
ToughDog is not a newcomer to this market. Over 32 years of on hand engineering, design and usage from the owner and over 100 years combined of the same credentials from his management/design staff.
More to come.
Thanks all,
Jason

I'm glad you made it safe to Bald Mtn..... I missed it again this year.![]()
Glad you walked out of it OK.![]()
@ToyotaDon thats one crazy looking bit of tire damage, never seen anything like it. I ripped a whole lug off a brand new 40" toyo open country MT right down into the tire ply and thought that was bad damage, but you my friend take the cake on this one. Glad you didn't lose the tire all together.
Congrats! I know exactly where you got that 80 and exactly where it's PO bought those front seats.Bought one, howdy 80 section!
Build thread being created probably tomorrow. Or whenever I get done with DMV and Insurance.

sweet, another dual rate suspension opton.
If you don't mind, what's the date code on those KM2sThese tires WILL NOT see another trip! They will be replaced with new ones soon!
Me too.
It still has full air pressure, LOL.
This is the third KM2 that's done this to me. The first one was at lower speed, the second was changed before it 'de-treaded", and this was by far the worst experience. I'm pretty sure it's just age and extreme use (airing up & down, rocks & logs, etc) that have caused it.
