And thats it, I'm Finally back from vacation. We had a great time and got to enjoy some time away from work and the norm. I spent most of yesterday fixing the A/C at the house, mowing, putting together some furniture and relaxing...We are under a heat advisory here in WV right now, it got up to 100°F today, so it has made it difficult to go in the shop the past two days.

With the heat, I have taken a break from welding (because I am too lazy to put on long sleeves and pants) so I have started to tighty up a few last wiring things. I Chased the fuel pump wiring from the passengerside at the Circuit Opening Relay, to the driverside at a body connector. Since I used the BP Automotive Fuse/Relay box, I am going to connect the fuel pump wiring here and do away with the Circuit Opening Relay.

I also bought the JTR Speed sensor...Probably something that is a little on the pricey side and not really necessary, but I am planning to run all of the Chevy senders and speedometer to make the OBD2 data and logging more useful. So I installed that today.

I am eventually planning to install the 10% overdrive, and I have noticed the transfer case starting to drip, so I plan to pull the transfer case and clean it up in the future. It has been coated with some version rhino lining and I will clean it up and make it look a little better in the future.

I soldered in the new pigtail for the VSS as well, so now I think I can start to wrap the harness back up entirely.

I'm glad I stuck with it that long, I was hot and sweaty but glad I was able to get a few things done today. Hoping to keep plucking away at things this week....slow and steady.

Sorry to hear about the AC man!

Good call on the VSS, without it you’ll have idle issues and other weird glitches. I’m running the JTR setup and it’s been great.

Wish you had asked me, I make a VSS setup that’s like 1/2 the cost! :D
Let me know when you’re ready for the 10% OD gears!

Yea, my A-coil froze over on the central A/C the house… last spring I added 2.5lbs to it, so It may need to be topped off again…changed a filter and defrosted it for now. its 20 years old, just another thing to spend money on :bang::bang:

Thanks for the comment, glad to here you’re running one too. Like I said before, I just want it to run with a stock-feel, reliable as possible, so I know a lot can be cut out, but I don’t want to compromise anything or have annoying things like idling issues from me not doing things correctly.

Well, my hope is someone in the future finds my build thread and reads all of these comments before making any purchase!! Hopefully they jot down the long list of good quality products you make and call and ask about them prior to buying others (as I did). That’s awesome, JTR was backordered on them, I think I placed an order back at the start of April. I guess I just never thought to ask you.

I may have found a used 10% overdrive gear from another mud member, If that doesn’t work out I will definitely give you a call, or if I end up needing to replace the other gears when I do it. I will try to keep a tally of the other parts I could use.

I saw this post talking about Alternator Wiring, That all makes sense, does anyone have a functioning Charge Warning Light. (Battery Light)?
Hey Erik, (Is this you, Erik ? :) ) really simple. All the solid white wires are the same main charge circuit. Just install the large white ones that were originally on the 3FE charge post onto the LS alternator charge post. The rest of the wires that were on the 3FE alternator connector (yellow, black/yellow, and white) are no longer needed. If you follow the smaller solid white wire up the harness it is spliced into the same run as the large gauge white wires, so constant 12v. Black/yellow is +12v key-on and cranking and good for using to trigger your new EFI/Fuel pump relays.
I am planning to run the LS SARVC (GBCM) for charging. So all of the LS Harness is wired accordingly

Looking at the Diagram, it looks like if the Y-W (connection L 2/3 on Alt) is grounded, it energizes the Charge Light Relay and lights up the Charge Warning Light??? I haven’t looked a lot into the GM side of things but would imagine they just used a Class 2 data output to the DIC in the cluster or something fancy.

You're overthinking it. Simply attach the main white charge wire (Large guage, white wire with ring terminal) to the charge post on your GM alternator. It should be able to reach.
Plug the alternator connector on your engine harness into the plug on the alternator. That's it - your 62 doesn't know or care if you have a 3FE or a LS

No that part I got, as long as the LS harness co trips the alternator it works & as long as the 62 main wire gets the power it functions… I was just seeing if anyone had hooked up the low voltage Battery light in the cluster. I know (from your post) that alternator will charge the system……
….so yes I guess I am overthinking it 🤣😂🤣

I'm pretty sure the low battery light will work just fine as-is ? I think mine does, I haven't had a low charge condition in a long time though.

Ok, thanks man, yea my 40 doesn’t even have one, I just look at the voltmeter. But figured I’d like to have it. Thanks Again!!! Hoping to get some progress knocked out this week.

Slow and steady progress again tonight, I pulled the Fusible links and will be mailing them off to @Coolerman tomorrow to rebuild. Going to fix some of the issues this truck had prior to the swap. I priced out all the Fusible link wires, and I can't buy them for the price Coolerman charges to rebuild it (mostly because I have to buy some of them in 10ft bulk).

I didn't waste my time taking off the shroud to see whats there, only 4 of the 5 were hooked up and I had plenty of electrical gremlins, so I figure just have it done right while I sort out other stuff.

I went ahead and pulled the OEM Oil PX and Water Temp wires back through the firewall to see where I will route them to the engine. The LS Harness will retain the GM Senders and wires to feed the ECM, but the Toyota senders will feed the guages in the cluster. That way I can run a scanguage or phone app to check the OBD2 data as a back up.

I also separated the unused Toyota Alternator wires, and plan to reuse them for something else..... I temporary connected the wires being retained on to the alternator.

I am hoping to knock out a lot this weekend and the wife has planed her days around me not leaving the shop. I am hoping to capitalize on some free time to knock out the rest of the exhaust and get the LS harness wrapped and installed.

I'm debating driving the 40 to work tomorrow but the heat index above 100 all week has made me stick to the tacoma for the A/C.
