Had a business trip up in northern Arizona last week. I visited Springerville Municipal Airport and White Mountain Lake Airpark. I'm a civil engineer who does airfield work... everything flat-and-boring in the airfield is my idea of a good time...
aztoyman is correct on that. Anytime you open up an A/C system you have to replace the drier and expansion valve at the very least. Get some R134a adapter fittings and you should be good to go on top of that.
I've converted all my R12 Toyota systems to R134A and never changed anything but the expansion valve and dryer as far as major parts. I change all the o-ring seals and put charge port adapters on. I also flush the system and drain the oil out of...
Saw this on the news last night - the drop-down style ball mount broke apart with a fatal result.

Little more progress. Did some basic bodywork just to clean up the weld seam from the bob. There are still a decent number of small dents in the bed but I'm not too worried about them at this point since this will be used in the rocks. So it's...
Got the wheels to fit. was also to take it off the path behind the house into the woods and it did well. the 4.30 moves 285/75r17's well. it rubs like hell but only in the front. so i ordered a Coastal Off-road bumper for it. hoping to get it on...
Man I didn’t think that hit would be all that bad. But what pita to just get the bumper off. All the brackets on the left side are bent which wasn’t to bad but the stupid weak main mount point bent and while trying to get it the bolt out the nut...
Kudos to you for doing this swap, it can be a nightmare especially if your truck has an immobilizer.
Lots of info out there so I'm optimistic you'll be able to pull it off soon!
So one thing lead to another and I bought a 00 limited auto 4x4 last september with a salvage title, with only 127k miles. As it turns out the car had seen more s*** than I thought, and the auto trans was on its way out. So after it burned up it...
You'll be happy you did! I loved my Tacoma but I moved and it was too big for my garage, so I tracked down my 3rd gen 4Runner and bought her back.
If you're mechanically inclined and don't want to pay an arm and a leg for one, don't discount...
Always loved my ‘01. Only reason I sold it is I figured my FZJ80 would be my car I’d keep forever. Ive kept it a looong time. But it’s getting harder/more expensive to maintain and find parts for. Also… if I get the 1st Gen, it’ll keep the kid...
Honestly I've been amazed at the availability of factory new Toyota parts. Things that I would think would've been discontinued a long time ago are still easy to get. Some small interior parts may NLA but I think you're making the right choice in...
I wanted to post some of the things I have done on my 4Runner for the last couple years. The 4Runner was my first SUV purchased with my wife back in February 2001 that had 39,000 miles. This was our family vehicle that we used for work installing...
Post up some pics and or a writeup. This would be super helpful for everyone who's having issues with their thermistors or their A/C computer chips (blanking on the name right now)
For those that have modded rigs or you don't want to mess with figuring out wiring, this switch mounts on the high pressure side of the compressor. Usually used with adding ac to a vehicle that didn't originally have ac....like an ls1 swapped...
It could be done, but it would be a total PITA. I looked into it myself but you'd need extensive wiring diagrams, and the cleanest/only way to do it IMO would be to re-pin the 4 pin to the 5 pin but you'd have to track down the other 5 pin...
