I've gotten the itch to work on an older yota again, and now have my sights set on a FJ60. Looking to buy one that's got a blown motor and is mainly complete, want to do a H55 & V8 swap. If it doesn't have the motor, tranny or transfer case that...
video killed the radio star and the internet killed car prices…
This is the current local market
Kinda steep, but I bet it sells in near future.
I paid $500 this piece
Coworker just got an early FST. $7k, no top driver set frame, engine -tc...
The rear sill and quarter panels actually looked pretty good - there was a quarter sized hole in the front of the tub, rust in the floorboards and looked like it had been repainted at some point so who knows where else it could've been.
Well I took a look at it and ended up passing on it. Seemed to run decently but there was a lot more rust on the body than I was comfortable with.
The search for a good cruiser continues!
Winch is mounted and tested.
I need to find the factory wiring diagram for the winch because I’m not exactly sure how to wire the magnetic relay. And I’m waiting on a budget for dual battery setup (which will make routing the wiring a breeze).
Put my 8274 back in service with an upper housing we got from @Honger . Luckily didn’t have much water intrusion in the case. Washed it post SAS. This truck has always had some oxidation in the paint, decided to try my hand at cutting and buffing...

Scrapped take 1 because the opening was too large toward the ps and at the bottom. The rad fin surface area also doesn’t extend far enough to these points. Made a more conservative cut the second time around.
Then tack welded a 21” diameter...
Agree with diamond plate…. 50 years ago in Vermont I remember a few FJ40’s where the rear quarter diamond plate covered huge body holes eaten away from salt.
the front anti inversion shackles are backwards they won’t work that way. i agree with some of the typical oil leaks. depends on the price and how it’s running it looks like a sold place to start if you don’t plan on a full on restoration. if...
Nice 77-78 , Old style advance handling shackle reversal , no skid plate , look like a rear pinion leak , maybe t-case output too , the hole on the frame is the torque tube (crossmember) you can see the muffler look like it go to the back
Going to look at this 40 tomorrow after work and think it looks to be in good shape and is a fair price. Few things I've noticed:
Seems very rust free, some rust on the side steps. Curious to see what's behind the diamond plate
Looks like...
Had a blast getting this piggy back to squealing and shouting!
I'd say 12 more Mexican brown waters would get this thing going, but knowing how we work we're going to need a 24 rack. We'll be cruising down to the Shelter in this thing come...
