Im just stuck on this. In theory, if the 4wd was engaged and the hubs were unlocked and the noise continued, the problem rests in the t-case.
If the noise was made when the hubs were locked and in 2wd it would be in the drive shaft or axle.

if you're in 4wd with the hubs unlocked, it could still be the diff or axle shafts (still spinning just not engaged to wheels).

Don't know if the noise is coming from here, but i had a locking hub spring come off the track once and it started making a pretty bad grinding noise that day while wheeling. Id start there since its just 6 little bolts and a super simple fix.

I think my problem is the drive shaft. The noise is hard to explain. Is not necessarily a grinding noise but like a metal on metal rubbing noise. It only happens when articulating and giving it gas. I took it out today on some un-developed lots but couldnt get it to make the noise . I think i need to flip the ends and do a cv. Here are somr terrible phone pics.

Did you do a cut & turn and not install a double cardan shaft?

It also looks like that driveshaft is overextended anyways

I ended up not doing a c&t as the 62s have the high pinion angle. I wasnt involved with the drive shaft. Our friend just sent it to the shop and all i did was install it.

I was talking to my shop teacher and he said that it needs a c&t. Maybe he can help me with it and i can use that as my junior shop project.

I don't have a C&T either. Mine only grinds if I'm speeding in 4wd on pavement or concrete. I have nearly 0* in caster. I suspect I'll have more grinding if I put more shims.

Yes, I always thought it was coming from the transfer case, but it more the driveshaft binding a bit. I don't hear it in the sand or when wheeling. Then again I don't speed when I do that.

EDIT: I wonder if a double cardan drive shaft would solve it

Yeah. I only hear it when im in 4hi and going faster on gravel roads and hitting bumps. I rarely hear it in 4lo crawling.

Anyone have any input as to the double cardan shaft solving our problem?

From what I've read the only reason for a DC is if you've done a C&T (I'm no expert on this by the way). There's a diagram out there explaining it.

Good news.. im going to be getting the bumpers done and painted this week. Then i need to get everything ready for the Fordyce trip on the 27th. Im stoked! I will bring all my gopro gear and take some sick pictures for you guys.

On a side note...
Im already looking at new ideas for the cruiser. I want to make it look like a desert explorer. I came across this 60 and fell in love. Im thinking about a light bar now.

Something like this.
Removable, maybe flip down. I will use gutter mounts and weld the frame onto them for quick and easy removal. I also dont want to drill holes in the body. It will be low profile and infront of the windsheild versus on top of the roof. The bottom bar will be at the top of windsheild so it wont be limiting my vision. Its just an idea but could be a good shop project for school. Who knows..

Thats one badass 60. Has a full interior cage if I remember correctly. I think that's a pic from the Valley Hybrids Swap-Meet this year, I parked right behind it.

A bar like that would look sick on your truck.

Looks like i missed and awesome swap meet! Next year for sure. Do you know what size tires those are on that 60?
I was thinking about doing a full cage. Maybe after i start to wheel more and relize that i need one.
