I got this 62 about a week ago delivered from ohio and I think I'm in love!!!!
I wasn't able to fly up to check it out myself, so i was extremely lucky to be able to have Jim Chenoweth look her over for me. All was well, so i sniped it before anyone else could have the chance and i could not not be happier with the price:)
My "Cruiser Stash of Cash" is running on empty now since I'm in college and need to eat, so i thought id make sure to get her in tip top shape mechanically before i go spending the rest of it on bumpers, lockers, lift, tires, and all that good stuff.

I'd really like to get some input on some of the more important modifications that should be done as soon as i have the funds to do so, so that i can go wheelin in GA and having fun without getting into too much trouble.
Thanks

Congrats! I have never seen one with this exterior. Welcome to Mud!

I wanna say I've saved a picture of one somewhere. Looks like a great start. :). Since you're already 1/2 way murdered might as well , plus it looks like the chrome on the grill is peeling. Front bumper looks great. Painted or powdercoated. Mirrors same q. Looks like it originally had a roof rack. Make sure those are sealed good. I love grey Cruisers

Also looks like you've got a oil leak. Maybe coming from steering box? Judging from location

I've never seen woodies on a grey 62. I like it, very unique. I assume the rear bumper is blacked out as well?

I'll play along, weeping water pump...

Thanks guys, I was actually thinking the same thing haha and bought the sand paper and black rustolium spray paint earlier today because in person, the grille really is looking a bit tired haha. I'm trying to think of some fun cheap projects to hold me over while I try and get a summer job. I want to make the cabinets for the back, but my rear springs are pretty much flat, so the ass will be dragging on the street with all that extra weight.
And yeah, I noticed that wet spot after I took some pics so I put some cardboard under and tomorrow morning I'm gonna see if I have great big problem haha.

I really dig the way it looks. Never change the exterior paint!

AAL's are pretty cheap. It would get your a$$ off the ground.

Another college student! (jumping for joy inside)

I went and checked the little wet spot and BG_TX was right (Thanks), it was some water dripping down. And the rear bumpers is also black. You guys may have seen this 62 here before, I bought it from a member.
Thanks for the truck, Ryan!!!!

Looks like you've already tracked down the leak, but if your power steering ever develops a leak, try replacing the rubber return lines first. Did it on mine and was happily surprised to know I didn't have a major issue.

I've never seen a 60 series with wood grain on the side, looks interesting. :D

Real beauty! First thing you may want to do is add a trans cooler, flush and fill with Synthetic fluid.;)

power steering leaking? or was that spot already there on the driveway?

welcome to mud, lots and lots of good, knowledgeable people on here.

edit* see what i mean? they already beat me to the spot on the drive lol*

It's all good, I'd much rather have a ton of eagle-eyed spotters bring to my attention a possible problem, than have everyone keep their mouth shut :)

The more cruisers in the Atl the better...congrats.

If the shifter is sloppy, a cheap and fun project is to replace the
bushing near the bottom.

They tend to dry rot over time

I have seen other wood sided LC's before. Pretty cool looking Cruiser!

Thanks everyone for the suggestions and compliments, especially on the woody style panels. when i first saw the truck, i thought the vinyl was pretty tacky, but they have really grown on me and i really like the unique look now :)
When i earn enough to get her a pretty new coat of paint, I'm definitely going to find someone who can re apply some wagoneer-like vinyl.
I also started blacking out the plastic vent pieces after i finished class today. In my completely biased opinion, they are the best looking vents I've ever seen on a 62 :p
I'll post some pics tomorrow before i try and tackle painting the grille.
Also, im deciding whether or not i want to fully paint every chrome/metal piece(door handles, land cruiser emblems, rear strip above license plate) flat black like the vents, has anyone done this and have tips for making it look really good?
Thanks again everyone

Started sanding and painting the grille a few hours ago. It was quite the  job.

Also finished spraying all the vents.

And i installed my brand new armrest :D
Super stoked on this thing.

Lots of cheap and cheerful mods can be done for <$100

Looking good. Staying with flat black or gonna gloss?

When I did it, I was gonna keep it flat, but now im not sure. I'll probably put it back on and see if I like it.

Finally got all the painting in the front done. i think it looks great so think ill keep it flat black for the now.

I still need to put new weather strips around the doors, and fix the sluggish windows so those will probably be my next mini projects:)

That looks pretty good. Nice work!
