Mmm. I think this is it. It's a bit grainy with some added black, but you have to be looking close to notice it.

I wouldn't do powdercoat. I would paint it the same color as the body of the truck. Personally I don't like powdercoat. Trauma from when i fell in a big tank of the stuff. The chemicals in the vat bleached my skin white, turned my hair green, and gave me bright red lips, which, combined with the disfigurement, drove me insane for a while through which i committed many crimes. Seriously though I'd paint it body color.

Been working 15 hrs days trying to get stuff caught up, so I'm moving a bit slow lol.

Hesd rests for the cage. Stole these out of a taco we are murderlating around here.

They lock down and tilt up stowing out of the way pretty well.

And powdercoated the seat frame.

Welded out the cage. I haven't played with silicon bronze filler much, but it is super fun. The tubes got welded out with normal er70.

The sheet metal was a bit waver than I thought, but oh well.

Started stripping the dash for paint.

20240705_141941.webp

Got some liner down, but ran out and will finish it this weekend.

20240707_124439.webp

Got the dash worked and primed.

20240711_205532.webp

Quick guide coat for final sanding.

20240711_211030.webp

Cam out pretty well, a few small burn throughs, but it's straight enough for this rig lol.

this is so much work. are you sleeping?

this is so much work. are you sleeping?

Sorta lol. Been pulling a bunch of ot for the shop trying to get some deadlines met, and then going nonstop on this thing on the weekends.

I'm excited to see this thing at SAS this year. I remember it back from 2021 when I was there last. You drove me back to camp after the brakes on my brother's 62 overheated on the way back one night.

I remember that, we'll have to catch up!

Got a bunch more little stuff done along with wiring up the cage.

Got the dash painted.

20240712_133257.webp

Started on center console reassembly.

Ducting and interior harness.

20240712_125736.webp

The powdercost came out well.

20240712_125728.webp

Rear ducts in.

Finished the liner. It was hot out and spraying kinda sucked, but it's done now.

20240713_132710.webp

I may get crucified for this one, but I hate oem headliners and wanted something different.

I really like it, but I have a feeling that will be mixed lol.

20240713_154414.webp

Started on dash reassembly. I got new stickers and bezels for the vintage controls. It's a nice subtle thing that I think adds a lot. It's a recessed bezel that perfectly matches the sticker.

Dash mostly back together.

You’ve got great talent, and in my opinion, really good taste. People normally have one or the other, but rarely both. Everything about this thing is super clean, and not tacky in the slightest.

I don’t think the kinda person that would be picky about the headliner would be approve of anything else you’ve done haha. I looked back, but didn’t see if you put any sound or insulation underneath it?

Great idea on the headliner. Did you have to graft two sheets together?

Yep, there is a seam right in the middle. I cut out the hex shape on both sides so they fully matched. It's basically impossible to see.

I have two layers of sound deadening under that. Probably added another 40 lbs to the top.

This definitely isn't a purist build for sure lol. Thanks for the kind words!
