Well after a day of sandblasting it looks like I have a solid ham, I’ll have some minor rust and improper dent repair to take care of but all and all I think this should go fast.

I’ll remove my entire quarter from the roof to floor as the inner structure was also damaged and I'll replace it with this one, the plan as of now is to drill spot welds and put it back on the same way Toyota originally did as long as my box of spot weld cutters holds out.
 
why not cut it just under the line of the cargo glass, it would be easyer to paint the inside ?

What was the final decision on the busted pinion? I don't think you really were doing hole shots and the pinion sure can't be the weak link. Any thing you're doing different with the new setup, to avoid repeating?

The rear pillar has an internal structure that runs from the floor to the roof and the one on my current quarter is buckled so I’ll try to dissemble this quarter so I can lap weld with spots like the factory back to the roof and floor for strength. No not the easiest or least amount of work but I think it will net a better overall repair.

The damaged parts are back at the manufacture for inspection but I’m guessing they’ll report back that everything was within their spec. Bottom line they should not have broken, I have a traction bar so the pinion was never in a bind, I only have 35” tires so even if I was doing something stupid the tires should spin long before the pinion breaks. For reference I have a borrowed set of 200,000 mile Toyota gears in now that I have leaned on just as hard and they are still going strong.

I have another set of the same manufacture gears sitting at Performance Cryogenics now waiting to get treated and I will rebuild my rear end again after I rebuy all the parts that got damaged (we’re hoping the manufacture will replace the gears but I’m on the hook for everything else). If I break this second set I’ll build a Spidertrax Spider 9 rear end and be done with it.
 
I agree, it shouldn't of snapped. My kind of luck! It will be interesting to hear what they say about it.

Holy crap! Im with Ron on this one. I though taking out just a rocker was hard to swallow. LOL
 
Agreed! Not to be a downer, but that does not look like a good time to me........;)

What's with all the sackcrete in the background? You gonna fill the body cavities to fend off further rock and tire attacks?
