You could get rid of the 90 and that huge forged aluminum flange and just install a top mount air-to-air intercooler. All the cool kids are doing it...;)

Please don't tempt me!! I'm trying to just enjoy this thing and stop spending money on it.....

Even though a slee 4 in lift is sitting in the garage ;)

Great Idea!

Concrete, you will never stop spending money on it so you might as well go "all in". My top mount intercooler (from Atoyo1031) worked great on my coast to coast trip a few weeks ago & I got a nice compliment on it from the smog guy today.

Did you have to cut the intake like blarsen did?

I thought so too. A nice silicon 90 degree would be nice. I looked at them and they are pretty spendy.
You can find a lot of this stuff elsewhere. We found similar hoses at a big truck/18 wheeler supply store. John

Ok the deed is done. It fits much better now but still not perfect. I will look for a solid 90 degree piece next time....that is if I ever have a reason to take it apart again.

As for the question is it worth it....IMHO hell yes!

It makes this big truck with big tires feel "normal" and almost peppy. It was raining the other day and I mashed it at a green light and spun all 4. That was unthought of

No, I didn't cut anything. Atoyo1031's custom top mount intercooler is plug and play. I did however lengthen the wires that I originally extended for the SC install inorder to run them back along the firewall vs. over the valve cover & relocated the Green top valve to the firewall.

I agree with concrete jungle... The SC is definitely worth it and makes my heavy 80 drive like a light weight SUV vs a slow pig. The intercooler definitely helps cool the charge. I noticed how much improved the throttle response is especially in the mountains.

You will need to find a used one. Or get super lucky like I did and pick one up from someone who had never installed theirs. Still had the receipt in the box from cruiser Dan

Is the SC still available from Toyota? Or must someone find a used one?

as far as I know depends on year of truck - Dan, beno, Sam, or Jacques would know for sure

Hmmm back last December cdan told me none available and no indication of when they would be produced again. Guess things change.
