When did the 12v unit die? Mine is in decent shape, but thinking long term I wouldn't mind grabbing a new one while I can.
According to the sad discontinued OEM parts thread at the top of the page. The 12v version died 4/8/2014. :skull:

Smart. Never crossed my mind to go out and look for the 24v version. It's actually a little crazy that Toyota even carries a separate part number for the two assemblies when the only difference is the bulbs. Learn something new everyday I guess.
Yeah, you have to get creative when hunting for parts sometimes! Start looking at other 60 variations or even cruiser models to acquire new parts. Its kinda a fun game... kinda.

No long weekend of work is complete without pulling the truck out into the street for a photo.

Let me know if you haven't bought a lift yet. Chase, Dave and @Kleatus can give you an honest review and feedback on the Tough Dog ones they have or helped install that I sell.

Glad the tailgate seal worked well for you.

Jason

I'm very happy with my TD suspension. @TheNeek if you're ever down my way you can take my rig for a spin if you'd like.

Thanks guys and I appreciate the offer @Kleatus , I actually have an OME kit sitting on the floor of my garage and rec room ready to go on the old girl.

Did you have to massage the holes on the Toyota emblem as well for the aftermarket grill? I picked up an aftermarket grill and used the OE nameplate and so far so good but noticed the holes were a little off initially.

"Massage" is a good way of putting it. I had to oblong them out quite a bit to center the emblem. The mounting holes were fine, just those registration spots were off. Seemed strange.

Exactly what I had to do as well, pretty odd. Though for the price it isn't bad at all. Wish the original manufacturer would pump out replacements.

Agreed, but in my case when it's behind an ARB bull bar it just needs to look presentable. I was actually surprised at the heft of the piece, seems to be one of the better reproductions of a grill I've seen, hole locations aside.

A couple random things from yesterday. Got a package that I've been looking forward to:

Got a few odds and ends as well that help finish off the paint work.

I really enjoy these couple-of-dollar parts that clean up the look of the truck. Sadly the glass installer rescheduled me for Monday. So no fixed glass in the truck until then.

We got our winch. Went with a Keeper 10,500 from Amazon. Not many reviews, and I've heard it's the same winch program as Super Winch.

After a little bit of head scratching and wondering if the mounting plate was necessary or not (it isn't obviously). We got it mounted. Had to go to the hardware store for longer mounting fasteners.

Snug as a bug in a rug. The remote hooks up still and the winch works fine. We'll hook up to something and try it out before we get out on the trail.

Looking tougher everyday.

USB is just for charging, but the HDMI leads to the double DIN head unit.

Because everyone needs Windows running on their laptop displayed on your stereo. Really we are just going to use it to mirror our phones, could play video and such or directions. Plus it's a feature that was there, might as well spend a few bucks while the dash is out to hook it up.

While I was monkeying around with the stereo, my wife was polishing the chrome on the rear bumper. The left side was untouched in the previous photo.

We're going to have to run the stock one for a while until we get the Kaymar in from Australia.

Such a terrible photo, sorry.

Not having the windshield in helped a little I think. It wasn't difficult really, but it went much faster with two people, each doing a side. With the instrument cluster out and the radio loose most things are accessible. Glass guy is coming today which is why we pushed to get the dash all buttoned up.

Subscribed. Nice build! Someday my red 60 hopes to look that good. It will be a loooong time though. Thanks for the detailed pics and part numbers. I'm learning a lot.

Got some glass in:

If anyone in the Seattle area needs glass work done. I can't recommend Cartech Auto Glass enough. Haffo is the owner and one of the techs. He has 22 years of experience and was professional at every turn. We are waiting for some lock strip pieces from cruiser parts, so he will come back out to do the rear glass. Then the truck is all sealed up.
