Adjusted the clutch slave push rod. This eliminated the grinding I was getting while trying to get back into first.

Putting together a tool kit. I got this beat up tool roll years ago. I am gonna try to remove the rust staining with some vinegar. I almost used some CLR, but it says do not use on fabric.
Most of the tools I got are not the correct vintage, but close enough.

Cruised around tonight with the doors on.....hotter and more rattles.....

My repop soft top bows showed up today. I installed them and the doors as soon as I got home. It seems decent so far, but needs some adjusting. The b pillar is way too high. The legs need to be shorter as they are bottoming out in the tub. I love cutting up new parts......lol

I have a 4/72 FST. I'm interested in the reproduction bows. Are these from TROA in Colombia? Relik Garage? Real Steel? SOR?
thx

Went for a cruise last night. Didn't get too far as the truck suddenly locked the back tires, I pushed in the clutch and rolled to a stop. Motor seized. Had to call a friend to tow me home.
Guess my mystery motor is junk.

Bummer. Was there any indication it wanted to lock up? Audible sound, loss of oil pressure?

Everything seemed fine. Was cruising about 50 mph, slowed down to turn into gas station, and bam.
I checked this morning and it's seized all right.

Anybody got a good running f motor for sale?

Looking for a complete 3 speed transfer case floor shifter assembly. Anybody got one to spare.?

Spent most the day rearranging heavy stuff in the side yard. Got the "new" donor motor on the stand and ready to work on. Need to get the rest of the drive train sorted, cleaned, painted and resealed. Let the motor fun begin.

Well, bugger.
This is the motor, right? I think you said it was “rebuilt?” Are you going to biopsy the motor to see what happened or why? I ask only because I had excess burning oil, blowby, and coolant in oil in my motor but no seizing, so it’s hard to imagine how something like this happens without some warning. Makes me nervous about the tractor rebuild I’m doing 😂.

Okay, not sure what CL you're looking at but there's none in AZ on CL
Maybe L.A. Craigs? One in Chatsworth listed 7 days ago but it's $2800:

2F Engine Complete FJ60 Land Cruiser - $2,795 (Chatsworth)

This complete 1984 runner is great - just replaced with a big dollar LS is only reason for it to be available. Has no issues, well maintained and ready to get your rig back on the roads and trails. Sold with core exchange, we are a remanufacturing shop.
Delivery, exchange available please inquire.
We can remanufacture your Toyota engine also if you choose.

I hate to hear about the motor Jack. The project was really cruising along nicely until this.

I have a complete long block from a 69. It ran great just has a couple pistons with small holes in them. It hade lots of blow-by but would still do 70 on the road. So the crank and rods and block are good. It's yours if it will help you.

Jack,

Make sure the dizzy is fully seated. Next, pull the dis, and spin the oil pump( chuck up an old flathead screwdriver in a drill) spin it up while turning the crank by hand. I did this 15 years ago, and I couldn’t turn it over with a 6 foot cheater bar! As soon as I pumped oil to the rods and mains, it spun over like butter. It ran for many years after!!!

Sorry to hear about your engine issues. I had a 72 engine that I traded, let me see if the guy actually used it. If not I am sure you could get it from him for next to nothing
