I thought I had some rod bearings......but no. My motor parts box yielded some old pistons and rods and some misc crap. I did find some Sealed Power piston rings. Set looks new and complete. Part # E-393 .75mm or 5462 030. I tried to search those numbers but found nothing. If anybody wants to inquire that would be great. I am not the best with computers stuff.....lol

Found a motor on the classifieds. So, that is probably the new plan.

I have some of the Zep made CLR type stuff. It says do not use on fabric. Not sure on Evapo Rust, but I don't plan to mess with it anymore. Thanks for the suggestion though.

It's a mix of magnetic bits and the bearing slurry. Pretty safe to say this motor is no good as is.

It's all on me. I have installed several used motors and took that gamble. Unfortantly, this time I went bust. Life goes on.

Dont throw another used 50 year old motor in it, just rebuild it, not hard or expensive

Rebuilding an F engine is not a simple as you say. Parts availability is a major issue. I don't have the time to wait for this build. I have several other F engines I am looking into rebuilding for future use.

Define not expensive. I've seen many many members state having over $5k in to a properly rebuilt F / 2F. The days of $1k rebuilds are long gone :(

Having just rebuilt a 2F - it took months to get the right bearings for the crank - the supply chain sucks - I am North of 6.5K - seen rebuilt ones on the net about 2 weeks ago for 8K

I know the supply chain sucks but think it's also the age of these engines that complicates things. Did everything except hone the cylinders to my 68 F145 in 1980. Spun a rod bearing in low range. Besides turning down all the journals had the crank straightened. The cylinder head was done. Did the assembly myself with the help of a neighbor. Neighbor was a mechanic with his own shop but crankshaft and head were farmed out. Borrowed a engine hoist and did the work in my garage. At that time believe only had about $300 into the rebuild. $6.5K for a tractor engine just seems crazy to me. Thinking Jack does not intend on paying that much. If did would had done a complete restore including body work and new paint. Not sure what Jack has into this one but if it's like me probably less than the $6.5K. Last engine I bought was a 3FE that has all the accessories, engine wiring harness and ECU for $200. Running engine that was replaced with a V8 for more horse power. Didn't need the engine but I do have an FJ62 and may need it some day. Not sure what project Jack has in mind for his 2F but guessing the 2F would go into this one and he will shop around for another cheap 2F.

I am saving my 2F for another project. I would like to put the same vintage, roughly, F engine back in this 1968.

I am waiting to hear back on one from the classifieds.

Thanks for the better explanation. Honestly I am not against getting the motor rebuilt. I just keep hearing about back logs and long wait times.

Like I stated above......I have a small collection of F motors and I would love to save them verses scrap them.

For this particular build, I just want to be done with it. It's fought me the whole way. The green one was so nice to build and then this one kicks me in the teeth.

I am more exciting to start the next build cause it's for me. I am planning to build a fake 45 pickup out of a couple chopped up 40s.
