Great job! Glad to see them on the road, was there any drama around getting the titles? I always assumed they would be branded in someway as the dude I bot them from got them from a salvage yard.

Thanks. I wanted to bring one of these back to Tucson and show ya in person, but that just hasn't worked out yet. As for the titles, it was no problem to get them. It just cost kind of alot.

I saw a You tube video the other day where they pumped grease into the engine maybe through the spark plugs and it freed up the motor.

I did that with the grease gun , welded a solid grease gun tube to a sparkplug base and used it to free-up a 190SL engine that had seized from moisture and years, ran well enough to sell the car to Europe!

That said, un seizing an engine from sitting up and one from locking up when running is two different animals. No way I’d fool with a motor that locked up when I was driving it.

Update time. I bumped it this morning and it moved some. So, I did the @whitey45 deal next. Pulled the distributor and ran the oil pump with a power drill. Did that a few times. Then it cranked over pretty good. I TDCed the motor and reinstalled the distributor making sure it seated properly.....took a few tries. Put everything back and fired it up.
Now it runs but makes some intermittent bad motor sounds. I pulled the valve cover and ran the motor some more. Everything looks okay and was getting oil. Intermittent weird noises continue. Not really a rod knock sound ,but sometime not good.
I adjusted the valves and buttoned it back up. Not sure what to........I almost want to go on a balls out run and see if she blows or goes. Only problem is.......could be scary if it locks up at speed. I'd prefer not to cause a crash. Or have something let go and tear up the drive train.
Time for some adult beverages.

Probably a spun rod bearing, last one I had happen, I pulled the pan and was able to do rod bearings. I polished the crank with emory cloth and all was good. Do not crank it any more. If the crank is smooth you can do bearings.

Well I ran it some after the valve adjustment. There's still a bad noise. Kind of a slapping, lite knocking sound.
Since my oil pan reseal didn't seal.....I have no reason not to check out the bottom end. I gotta dig thru my stash cause I might even have some new rod bearings.

I keep telling myself......I do this for fun. I keep positive and at least I will learn more about our beloved tractors.

I plan to pull the oil pan this weekend. Hopefully, I can swap in rod bearings and make this thing happy. If that does not work......I will need a plan B.

In the meantime, I installed the door stops. It's nice to get original paint, worn, that matches this build. Thanks @77HesterSue

Would verify if the crankshaft has been turn and bearings are over sized. Would also plastic gauge the new bearings.

Did the cap have cotter pins in the castle nuts? My original FJ40 there were MIA when I bought it and one cap had come loose on one side.

Don't know. Haven't pulled the pan yet. Will probably do it Sunday.

I thought I had some rod bearings......but no. My motor parts box yielded some old pistons and rods and some misc crap. I did find some Sealed Power piston rings. Set looks new and complete. Part # E-393 .75mm or 5462 030. I tried to search those numbers but found nothing. If anybody wants to inquire that would be great. I am not the best with computers stuff.....lol

Found a motor on the classifieds. So, that is probably the new plan.

Looks like those rings are for a 2F 1975-1987 Toyota Land Cruiser
