My Dad helped me bleed the brakes today. Much better now. Might need more adjusting after some use though. We cruised around the block and did a few brake checks.....lol
Cleaned up the wiper motor assembly and installed it. It was in nice shape after cleaning, so I left it as is.
Working on installing all the eyelet thingies for the top. Not very fun and I got like 16 more to do....

I just found out this weekend that my OCD top needs these eyelets installed. I saw on the forum where the eyelets can be sourced from McMaster carr, but did not see any info on installation. Where did you source the eyelets and is there a special tool you need for installation? I'm thinking its got to be some kind of punch tool and then a press tool to crimp the eyelet to the fabric?
Are you also doing eyelets and twist snaps around the corners too? I think its a much cleaner look, my top has straps around the corner though, so not sure if I'll keep them or go with the twist snaps.

My eyelets came with the top. There is no special tool, I wish there was though. I can post the directions if you need them.
Mine uses the twist locks on the corners too. I have 20 locks and eyelets for the whole top. I should have all this done soon.

While you are done now it might be good for others to know that the oval punch and eyelet installation tools (an anvil basically shaped to the eyelet) can be purchased from many early Jeep (MB/GPW/2a/3a/5) vendors. Makes it just barely easier.
They also have black coated eyelets which will pair well with a brown shade top.

While a pain to install in the top I would have perfered that way verses the way Kayline tops were sold. Eyelets were already installed. Most did not match the holes for the twists in the tub. Ended up having to drill holes to match the eyelets. I always run my tops on my 68 FJ40 FHT. My 73 FJ40 FST is made for straps verses twists. The three Kayline tops I have all have eyelets in the corners. One I bought new. So even if I sew on straps will have eyelets in the corners. The Kayline tops Do not have a flap covering the eyelets. But considering what new tops sell for I can live with that.
I agree, rather go through the effort to correctly place straps or eyelets than having incorrectly placed ones there to deal with

I bought an infrared thermometer gun to investigate the engine Temps. Maybe the heat is getting to me cause everything seem like the correct temp. I probably have a mis match between the sender and gage causing the false readings. Hopefully that is it and I dodged a bullet with another mystery motor.
